Taking Guitar Hero obsession to a new high, 14-year-old Danny ‘Phenom’ Johnson recently burst his way into the Guinness Book Of World Records not once but three times, setting new standards with the Longest Note Streak On Guitar Hero (with a score of 3,722 and 100% on the track ‘Through The Fire And The Flames’), the Highest Score For A Single Track (the just-shy-of-a-million 985,206 on the same ditty), and the Highest Score On Guitar Hero: Metallica with a rockin’ 1,009,056 on ‘Mercyful Fate’.

“I don’t think there is anything that can stop this kid, his talents are infinite,” said his father of the feat, possibly confusing ‘ability at a video game’ with ‘world domination’.

Burnin’ Rubber World Record

burnout

Reckon that time you stayed up bleary-eyed until 4am playing Halo ranks you as a hardcore gamer? Think again, as a group of dedicated souls are out to set a new Guinness World Record by playing Burnout Paradise for 24 straight hours.

Attempting the feat on April 18th, six of the staff of Ready Up will be plugged into Xbox Live for an entire day of rubber burnin’ action, with only “short bathroom and eating” breaks officially allowed as they bid to add Longest Marathon Playing A Driving Game to their resumes.  (more…)

Large/Small Dog

Despite their radical difference in size, these two dogs have something in common – Gibson the Great Dane and Boo Boo the toy Chihuahua are both world record holders.

Measuring a whopping 107cm, gentle giant Gibson was named tallest dog back in 2004.

Joining Gibson in the hall of fame for 2007 is tiny Boo Boo who only measures 10.16cm tall and is smaller than Gibson’s head.

“Gay” Olympics in 2008?

Tyson GayWith colorful flags a-waving, there isn’t a more fruitful time than now to start thinking “Gay” for the 2008 Olympics.

Tyson Gay has been a middle-to-top-class sprinter in the 100m and 200m dash for the last few years – in 2005 he was the “4″ in the U.S. 200m 1-2-3-4 sweep – but the recent spring in his step has earned him Gold medals and World Records.

Gay, a 25-year-old American, got the Gold in both the 100m (9.85 seconds) and 200m (19.76 seconds) at the World Championships in Osaka, Japan – the first athlete to do so since Justin Gatlin in 2005.

His 19.76 in the 200m is edged out ever-so-slightly by the “world’s fastest man” himself, Michael Johnson, in 1996 (19.32).

Olympic hopeful? You bet your sweet ass.

Watch Gay win the 200m after the jump.
