It’s often been claimed the word “crap” originated with a plumber named Thomas Crapper, the man who invented the ballcock (no joke), which helped pave the way for the flushing toilet, pee cams, and some of cinema’s best moments (American Pie, Dumb and Dumber, Trainspotting). Dude even has a day named after him; January 27th is Thomas Crapper Day, which commemorates the day he passed on to the big swirling bowl in the sky.
