Thiago Silva completely destroyed Brandon Vera’s face and spirit in a dominant decision win during Saturday night’s UFC 125. Vera spent much of the bout on his back guarding his mug against Silva’s aggressive facial assault. At the end of the fight, Silva continued slapping and taunting Vera silly, ultimately leaving the usually boistrous brawler unusually humbled. (see Silva’s post fight interview here.)

Randy Couture couldn’t beat Brock Lesnar. Heath Herring couldn’t beat Brock Lesnar. Frank Mir couldn’t beat him a second time. So, who among the MMA heavyweights can bring down the UFC phenom? Here are five fighters I think stand a good chance against Brock Lesnar’s brutal beatings.

Saturday night, “The Face of Women’s MMA” Gina Carano got her face pummeled and clock cleaned in a brutal one round slug fest against Brazilian tough girl Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos. In a controversial decision in literally the last second of the first round, the referee called the fight as Carano absorbed a series of hard hits to the face and head. Cyborg’s victory makes her the first ever women’s MMA champion.
