Ohio State? USC? Florida? The answer might surprise you. After Auburn finished the season undefeated (for the second time since 2000) and won the BCS National Championship, many asked where this team stands amongst the best of the past 10 years. Auburn’s conference, the SEC, has been consistently hailed as the best in D-1, yet they don’t have any schools among the top five with the best winning percentages since 2000. Of the top 25 programs of the last 11 years, five are from the ACC, four are from the Big 10, four are from the Big 12 and four are from the SEC, according to ESPN.com. You know that mode in Madden where you can pick a classic team for the past and pit them head to head with another classic team? ’72 Dolphins vs. ’07 Patriots, ’85 Bears vs. ’92 Cowboys, ’67 Packers vs. ’78 Steelers? This is the time of the college football season when champions are made and rivals do battle. This week’s contests feature the ‘Noles trying to spear the Gators, a shootout in the Lone Star State, Cam Newton in the Iron Bowl, Wildcats hoping to get buckwild on the Ducks, Boise State’s push for #1, and the Buckeyes trying to avoid an upset against the Michigan Wolverines. The NHL had the bright idea of playing the “Winter Classic” outside at venues not typically used for hockey. The concept has since been adopted by the NCAA with ridiculous results. After this past weekend’s pretty awesome Illinois-Northwestern game at Wrigley and Notre Dame-Army game at Yankee Stadium, we at COED got to thinking: what other non-football venues would make for cool college football matchups?

Week 8 certainly had its share of fireworks. Another #1 bit the dust and Auburn earned the right to be the next BCS #1 with a win over LSU. This week one of the best rivalries in the nation will take place for the 88th time as the Florida Gators take on the Georgia Bulldogs; otherwise known as the World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party.

The Wisconsin Badgers upset the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Texas Longhorns upset Nebraska and Heisman hopefuls had a shootout in the highest scoring non-overtime game in the SEC. This week’s top games feature Auburn/LSU, Nebraska/Oklahoma State, Wisconsin/Iowa, and Oklahoma/Missouri. Here are some cheerleaders to get you pumped!

If you bet a case of beer your team would win because you thought there wasn’t a Gamecocks chance in Tuscaloosa your boys would lose last weekend you probably came up disappointed and 24 brewdogs lighter. Looking to this Saturday, there are a number of match-ups that you don’t want to miss so belly up to the bar because it’s going to be a long day.

As the season goes on, the games start to get better. Over the last week of college football there were teams that stepped up, some that stepped back, others that kicked butt, and other that got there butt kicked. If you’re wondering what happened to the supposed best in the nation read on.

If anyone were to be able to put head coach Les Miles’ job in jeopardy it would be the #22 West Virginia Mountaineers when they come to town Saturday night to play the #15 Tigers of LSU.

As South Carolina faces #17 Auburn ranked #12 in the nation, one has to be a little skeptical. After the two play Saturday night we’ll see who’s most deserving of their ranking.

We arrived in Detroit early in the morning for an appearance on Fox. After wowing the locals with our sparkling TV personalities, we headed over to the stadium and found some quality parking for only $10.

Just a short time ago, 64 teams entered into the March Madness tournament filled with hopes of NCAA basketball glory.
