So it turns out that the decade that brought us the Rubic’s cube, parachute pants and breakdancing also had a ton of super hot chicks! And with Friday’s release of the coming-of-age, 80’s-era comedy, Adventureland, the latest flick from the director of Superbad, we decided to celebrate this comedic occasion by putting together the quintessential collection of the 99 Sexiest Ladies of the 80’s! And since a lot of you were only toddlers (or not even born) in the 80’s, this will be like a history lesson in hotness. Enjoy! (And don’t forget to check out our 80’s playlist at the bottom, and the Adventureland trailer!)
If you missed the premier of HBO’s new series, ‘Eastbound and Down,’ then you missed one of the funniest shows on television. Danny McBride, star of recent comic hits, Tropic Thunder, Pineapple Express and Superbad, plays washed-up MLB pitcher, Kenny Powers, who returns to his hometown and is forced to get a job as a substitute teacher. This results in some of the best overweight, permed-mullet laughs this side of the Mason-Dixon line. And luckily for you, we’ve found the entire first episode streaming online, here! But beware, the language is very NSFW and there’s some nudity at the end, so don’t say we didn’t warn you.
On October 3rd, indie fans everywhere will be flocking to the new feel-good flick, Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist, a story about two high school students, impromptu lovebirds caught in one wild night of shenanigans. But just because Nick (Michael Cera – Superbad, Juno) and Norah (Kat Dennings – 40 Year-Old Virgin) get to have an “infinite playlist” doesn’t mean you get to listen to it. All these songs will be on the upcoming soundtrack for the film. Enjoy!
Over the last few years writer/director/producer Judd Apatow has had the Midas Touch in the film industry, responsible for hits including Superbad, 40 Year Old Virgin, Knocked Up, and Forgetting Sarah Marshall.
His latest film, Pineapple Express, starring Seth Rogan and James Franco, hits theaters on Wednesday August 6th, is a surefire stoner classic.
Apatow and crew have been banging out successful movies at a rate of two per year. So how did he come up with the idea for Pineapple Express?
“I was watching “True Romance” back in the late 90’s on laserdisk, and I thought, Brad Pitt is so funny as this pothead character but there’s only one scene. I kind of wish there was a whole movie about that guy. And then I started thinking they never have stoner movies with great Jerry Bruckheimer level action–wouldn’t it be funny if you were chasing guys who were so high that it makes it hard for them to get away? So we spent a few months, had a meeting every once in a while, kickin’ around that like and then before you knew it, we have “Pineapple Express.”
I am completely baffled whenever I hear anybody say they find Dane Cook funny. Every time. Without fail. Am I being too critical or are the standards for comedy lower than ever?
What has Cook ever done that’s even remotely funny? He’s a third-rate Adam Sandler man-boy out to please vapid sorority chicks and pre-teen boys who haven’t learned how to use their cocks yet – and I guess that’s funny in itself (at his expense).
Tall-glass of Haterade aside, everybody deserves a second chance, and that’s what Good Luck Chuck is out to prove. Unfortunately for Cook, it fails miserably in every possible way. (more…)
First off, if you haven’t seen Superbad yet, do so now. Call in sick from work, skip your Mom’s birthday, break up with your girlfriend – just f*** it all and go. It’s the best comedy of the summer by a country mile, excepting its cinematic big-brother Knocked Up.
Cera, who honed his brilliantly-awkward chops on The Greatest Comedy in Television History is a dead-ringer for Twisp, an intelligent, sex-obsessed 14-year old willing to go great lengths to get inside the panties of his young love (hump) interest, the wanton Sheeni Saunders. Basically, he’s your average teenager – living in the trashy desert-suburbia of NoCal. (more…)
Leave it to Tinseltown’s finest writer/director/whatever Judd Apatow to parody the critically-beloved music biography genre.
Hot off the heels from the future-classic Knocked Up (and awaiting the release of his new flick, Superbad this Friday) Apatow is preparing to release Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story on December 14 this year.
The official trailer for Walk Hard debuted at Comic-Con before the screening of Superbad to a rapturous response, and Apatow seems confident that it could garner some Oscar buzz, hence the deadline-safe release date.
Chiggity-check Walk Hard’s plot, cast and out-of-control cameos after the jump.
