With the 2009 NBA Draft set for June 25th at the WaMu Theater at Madison Square Garden, COED is here to bring you up to speed on the top ten collegiate prospects that are ready to make the leap from the dorm cafeteria to the luxury revolving restaurants atop city skyscrapers. This is not a mock draft that dares to predict where each player will be selected, but rather an evaluation of the top prospects heading from the NCAA to the pros.
P.S. In case you have an awkward mancrush on Ricky Rubio or Brandon Jennings, don’t expect to see your boy below. (more…)

Sorry, ladies: We’re told Jon Favreau, Barack Obama’s 27-year-old single speechwriter, now has a girlfriend. With ample clearance. Favreau used to have trouble convincing potential dates he actually had gainful employment, with Barack Obama. They just didn’t believe him, and wouldn’t give the poor kid the time of day out on the lonely campaign trail. Now that the former Kerry staffer is on the inside, in the Obama White House, he’ll “get laid as often as he wants,” as former Time columnist Ana Marie Cox put it. [Gawker]

I Could Have Partied With the Alabama Cheerleaders
For the record I didn’t go to Alabama. But I would imagine a school with a rich sports tradition like that must have an awful lot of school spirit. So it would come as no surprise that the dance team for the Tide would be a fine group of attractive girls. And when they’re not practicing with their pom poms what are they left with? [Uncoached]

You might remember when Stephen Curry-mania hit it’s peak last March as Davidson’s point guard single-handedly led 10th seed Davidson to the Elite-8. Well, once again Stephen Curry has captivated America.
During last night’s Jimmy V Classic Curry had a second half performance for the ages dropped 13 straight points on West Virginia in the final five minutes, including a go-ahead, game clinching NBA length foot three-pointer with only 39.6 seconds left to play.
Madison Square Garden was at full capacity and as SI said this morning, “Stephen Curry drew the biggest college hoops crowd at MSG this year. The crowd was there to see him. Bigger games with bigger schools (Duke and North Carolina) had been played at MSG already this season, and people hadn’t turned out like this.”
Why don’t you join in the madness and check out 10 Stephen Curry Facts after the jump so you can drop some Curry trivia on your friends. (more…)

Stephen Curry Scores 0 Points, Davidson Still Wins By 30
By the third possession, Davidson’s Stephen Curry had figured it out. Loyola (Md.) was double-teaming him. Everywhere, on each possession, no matter what the scenario.
So Curry decided to test the triangle-and-2 defense taken to the ultimate extreme. He went into the corner and two defenders followed him, setting up a 4-on-3 for his teammates.
Curry decided to keep standing there, and his teammates kept scoring – for 40 minutes – in a 78-48 head-scratching win for the 24th-ranked Wildcats that will be remembered for some time. [USA Today]

Latest BCS Rankings Using 15 Hot College Fans
It’s that time again and I am starting to run out of creative ideas to display the most recent BCS Rankings to you guys. Maybe I shouldn’t just say you guys, girls as well right? I know that 10% of the demographic for this site is females. Though I seriously doubt you’ll be seeing any hot guy contests around here any time soon. [Uncoached]

Iowa Fans Do It In The Bathroom
Just weeks after two Bills fans were arrested for having sex in a bathroom at the stadium, a pair of Iowa fans matched the feat during the Hawkeyes’ road trip to Minnesota on Saturday. A group of 15 onlookers were gawking at the scene by the time officers broke the couple up and wrote them misdemeanor citations. [With Leather]

Stephen Curry, Sportsman of the Year?
Maybe Joe Posnanski was right? Maybe Davidson’s Stephen Curry should be in contention for Sportsman of the Year. He brought madness to March, and last night his otherworldly act was in Oklahoma, where the wiry kid with the baby face and impeccable stroke dropped an amazing 44 points on Blake Griffin’s Sooners. Davidson fell just short, 82-78. [The Big Lead]

The USC Song Girl Who Cheered For Texas Back In The News
Maybe she really was secretly a Texas fan.
Just when you think a 2-year-old controversy over the USC Song Girl cheering at the most inopportune time is history, football fans go and dig up the past. The Natalie Nelson traitor incident got back into mainstream news this week when Scott Wolfe at the Daily News took a question about a photo we discovered of Ms. Nelson wearing a UT jersey for Halloween. JuicyCampus Gets Banned From TSU, Cries Foul
JuicyCampus, a public, anonymous message board that basically encourages college students to gossip about each other (often using full names and with malicious intentions), got its first ban from a public university. Apparently, Tennessee State University’s VP for Student Affairs, Michael Freeman has blocked access to the website, which spurred CEO & President of JuicyCampus Matt Ivester to write an open letter in response.
