Aliens will soon be descending on the western front in Cowboys & Aliens. In the movies, aliens have always come down to Earth to either greet us or eat us. Sometimes the aliens are a masterpiece of genetics and intelligence. Other times they are just dopey shmucks who just sort of wandered onto our planet accidentally. It’s hard to imagine a time when the television airwaves weren’t filled with mind-numbing, superficial reality TV shows. However, there was a time when the boob tube wasn’t so bad. Over the past 50+ years we’ve been able to watch pioneering programs that have deeply affected American culture and the media industry as a whole. Who knows where’d we be without their inflluences? Some say we’re worse off because of the envelope it pushed while others praise them for revolutionizing the way we think and behave. Take a look and let us know what you think. Decades ago, viewers were fascinated with a device from Star Trek called the Tricorder. Now we have those devices in the form of mobile phones. With that in mind, there are a few other fictional devices from movies and television that should follow in the Tricorder’s path. It’s a shame the world might end in 2012, because technology is on its way down a lovely path of evolution; any day now, we’ll be flying around deep space nine and setting up alien interment camps. In the nearer future, we foresee certain technologies fading out by next year as the latest batch of “wow-shiny-touchy-easy” technology sweeps the board. Here are five tech trends you should hope you didn’t spend money on, because something better is coming out tomorrow:

Alien invasions are never good. Well, except when the invading aliens happen to be a bunch of hot, sexy extraterrestrials who are all about exploring our space. Here’s our official list of the top aliens we would gladly invite to earth any day.

Beam me up Scotty; there is no intelligence life down here. Captain Kirk and the rest of the Star Trek crew had it right when they utilized the teleportation system to get from point A to point B. The traditional methods of moving around are not good enough to get the job done anymore; they are too dangerous. However, with the need to go to crazy places like work, school, dates, vacation, and most importantly the bar—we need to travel. Travel simply sucks these days, but if we could teleport it would not be half bad and the pitfalls that plague most travel methods would not be an issue.

To some folks  Atari, is the coolest retro VGS ever.  Others think it’s a dinosaur, while some delusional teens and inbred early 20 somethings actually believe that Nintendo (NES) was the Granddaddy of them!?!?  Sheesh . . . know your roots son . . .some of us kicked the crap out of your Pop in “Combat” way back in ’79.
