The very first issue of Rolling Stone magazine was published on November 9, 1967. In the debut issue, Jann wrote, “is not just about the music, but about the things and attitudes that music embraces.” During the 1980s the magazine began to shift focus towards being a general “entertainment” magazine. Music was still a dominant topic but there was increasing coverage of celebrities in television, movies and the pop culture of the day. The magazine also initiated its annual “Hot Issue” during this time. With it came sexier covers. To celebrate the anniversary of the mag’s premiere, we’ve pulled together its 39 sexiest covers. Waiting at the bus stop is the worst. Public transportation, in general, is the worst. It’s just so awkward. Bunch of people hanging out, trying not to touch each other or make eye contact. The Coen Brothers remake of the western classic “True Grit” hits theaters tomorrow. If you haven’t seen the previews or opened your eyes in the past week, “True Grit” stars Jeff Bridges, Matt Damon, Josh Brolin, and this 14 year old prodigy Hailee Steinfeld. Bridges plays a tough U.S. Marshal who helps a stubborn young woman played by Steinfeld track down her father’s murderer. They showed a clip from the movie on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon last night and she was unbelievably good. Anyway, you should go see it.
