July 11th is Cheer Up The Lonely Day. Originally, I was going to pull a bunch of pics of people, animals, and objects looking hilariously lonely. Then it came to me. The Lonely Island. They could cheer up the loneliest of loners. So, we’ve ranked their top 10 funniest music videos. But that’s not all, we’ve also put together a list of recordi… Click to read more

Getting laid is, hands down, the best thing in the world. The only way you can do better than getting your rocks off is having an awesome soundtrack to accompany it. A great band helps to set the tone for your boning and gives you an auditory cue for when to pick up the pace or slacken off. Check out our list of 10 bands and artists to crank up the next time you hook up after the hump… we mean, jump.

We’ve been pretty nostalgic here at COED lately. Earlier today, we showed you candid pics from the 61st and 62nd Academy Awards. In early February, we showed you yearbook photos of a former fat kid turned skinny rock star comedian and a beautiful blonde who went from hoodies to hot hand bras. Now, we turn our attention to the music industry with yearbook photos of 41 famous “rock stars”. While you may notice not everyone in our gallery can be categorized as “rock”, you have to admit they underwent a “rock star” transformation. Can you guess the identities without looking at the captions? See the pics after the jump!

That’s right. Television isn’t the only medium that can produce spin-offs for their own financial gain. So can writers! You all may remember the recent post about cover songs being more popular than the original. This time we’re covering thirteen cover songs so bad that if given the choice between listening to it or spending an evening with Ann Coulter, you would really be between a rock and a hard place. So if you think Soulja Boi is insufferable (I for one do), then check out these tunes.

Well, uh… hmmph. Ummm, jeez. MacGruber, man. I mean. What the hell happened? Best SNL film since Wayne’s World and you debut at #6? Media sources everywhere are calling it an “unmitigated bomb.” Pretty rough considering it’s almost made back its entire budget already in three days. I admit, I didn’t help the cause by not buying a ticket, but come on. I can’t buy 600,000 tickets.

You may look at yourself from a picture that’s 10 years old and think to yourself, “Wow! I looked so different from then and now.” From the 1990s until 2010, some of the most famous people in the world look exactly the same. I guess we should have listened to our parents when they told us to eat our vegetables.

In the July ’09 issue, Spin magazine writer, Brian Raftery has put together an excellent oral history of Prince’s iconic 1984 movie and Top 40s soundtrack, Purple Rain, in honor of its 25th anniversary. To top off their Prince-centric edition, Spin produced an excellent Prince tribute album, Purplish Rain, featuring an eclectic variety of musicians, from Of Montreal to the Riverboat Gamblers, which they’re giving away for free.
