Now that the NBA’s Nazi Commissioner David Stern has officially cancelled the first two weeks of the NBA season, all we can do now is pray that a season actually starts. The L and the players did just have 16 hour talks yesterday, so it’s nice to know that they’re at least making it seem like they give a f*ck. I’d be happy with a shorter season anyway because it’s the playoffs that really matter. Even if the season doesn’t happen, at least we have NBA 2k12 to fill the void. I’m sure that a few NBA teams are actually happy about the lockout – there are a bunch that actually benefit from a shorter regular season. Check out who those teams are after the jump.

When getting your basketball team together, it helps to give them a name that is memorable, marketable and – above all – imposing. Names like the Chicago Bulls, the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Dallas Mavericks are all names that strike fear into the opposition as well making a helluva lot more sense than – oh, we don’t know – Utah Jazz! Hit the jump to see COED’s list of 8 NBA teams that could use a name change!

On the totem pole of championship events, the NBA Finals is right there between the Indy 500 and the Fourth of July hot dog eating competition. Part of it is because nobody cares about the teams or by the time they’re ready to get invested into the Finals, the whole thing is over. Still, the NBA Finals used to mean something. It was the first must-see event of the summer when I was younger. So allow me to count down (or up) some memorable NBA Finals game.

CBS Sports has confirmed that the Blazers are willing to send a package of LaMarcus Aldridge, Jerryd Bayless, and Raef LaFrentz’s $12.7M expiring contract in exchange for the talented 26-year old 4-time All Star power forward. If this offer is on the table, there is no way the Suns can turn it down.
