On November 21st, 1789 North Carolina ratified the United States Constitution and was admitted as the 12th U.S. state. The home to the Panthers, Bobcats, and Hurricanes really needs a pro baseball team. They’ve gotta be sick of rooting for the Braves by now – they’re one of the losingest teams in MLB history. The Nats aren’t much better and the Orioles have more of their opponents’ fans in the stands than their own. While they don’t see many baseballs in flight (on the pro level) within state boundaries, they do have bragging rights to being first in flight, which is the state’s motto.
