When a good movie ends up being a big box-office success, studios automatically think ‘sequel’ no matter what happened in the previous installment. It makes sense when called for (loose ends, other plausible storylines, etc.) but producers have a way of running something into the ground until it’s no longer profitable. Today, we view anything beyond a trilogy as overkill but before the 70s, it was commonplace to pump out a sequel EVERY year. Some series have 21 or more installments. Thank the Big Man upstairs TV came along. Anyway, check out our list of film franchises with way too many sequels and let us know if we missed any in the comments after the jump.

The key to a great horror film, on top of the obvious ‘hot chick running around in tight pants’ and ‘use of unconventional weaponry that takes way too long to finish off its intended victim’, is in its villain. We’ve seen some good, some bad, and some incredibly ugly – so without further ado, here are the best of the best and the best of the worst.

Saw II: Flesh & Blood is the second video game based on the popular film franchise set to hit stores today. It’s one of few horror movies that made the jump to game consoles, which is odd. COED takes a look at horror movie candidates that are way overdue for a video game adaptation.

Daydream on Palm Street starring Rorschach took the top spot at last weekend’s frame while Brendan Fraser’s Hairy Revenge saw a stampede of other releases crush his CGI famcom. I hate Halloween. I have always hated Halloween. One of the first pictures anyone ever took of me is in a pumpkin costume at age 4, crying my eyes out.
