According to reports at Yahoo! Sports, the Cleveland Browns are moving toward an agreement that will send wide receiver Braylon Edwards to the New York Giants in exchange for wide receiver Dominik Hixon along with a 2nd and 5th round pick in this month’s NFL Draft.
This move makes sense for both teams as the Browns are looking to move in a new direction under new head coach Eric Mangini, while the Giants are looking to return to Super Bowl form after jettisoning their troubled star receiver Plaxico Burress.
Edwards would immediately fill the number-one receiver slot for the G-Men, and fit perfectly in a leadership role to help fellow former Michigan Wolverine star wideout Mario Manningham improve on his limited rookie season. Edward’s big body and ability to dominate a game will be music to the ears of quarterback Eli Manning, who thrived with a larger Burress as his primary option.
To continue along the Michigan Connection trail both Edwards and Manningham could team up to help fill the void left by Burress and the recently released former Wolverine and all time Giants receiving leader, Amani Toomer.

At some point last year Eli Manning decided he wanted to become an NFL star and now a few months later (with a Super Bowl ring & MVP trophy and multiple commercial endorsements in tow) Manning is laughing his way to the bank.
Eli’s fully automated Hoboken, New Jersey condo he shares with new wife Abby was the subject of a recent profile piece for Electronic House.
One must see is the Batman-esque one touch hidden bar. Eli isn’t a flashy guy but as he explains, “I just wanted the place to have a little secret.”
If you are reading this, you didn’t win the genetic lottery and won’t be suiting up in the NFL/receiving the fat paycheck Eli does – sorry. But if anything, the tour of his condo could be used as motivation to work hard and land a killer job. But chance are, you’ll just get drunk like the rest of us.
Sure, David Tyree’s catch in last year’s Super Bowl was awesome, but this might be better. In this play by Morgan State against rival Winston-Salem State, Edwin Baptiste makes what could be the best catch in the history of football.
In the wake of Osi Umenyiora’s season-ending knee surgery, the best news for Giants fans is that Michael Strahan is staying put in retirement. Why, do you ask? Because Strahan was a warrior for the Giants over his prolific 15-year career, and he deserves that his final chapter be written with its current fairy tale ending. He went out healthy, he went out respected, and most importantly, he went out a champion.
Strahan’s leadership will sorely be missed in New York, but now is the time for Eli Manning to take the reins of the franchise. Eli’s fourth quarter in Super Bowl 42 demonstrated that not only is he capable, but also he is ready. (more…)
Big news in the football world: SI reports that “Seven-time Pro Bowl defensive end Michael Strahan is retiring after a 15-year career, capped by a Super Bowl title with the New York Giants in February.”
While Super Bowl XLII was a helluva game in every respect, the commercials during each break (of which there were billions) either left something to be desired, or, to put it bluntly, sucked. This was easily one of the worst years for Super Bowl ads. I mean, how can one spend a cool $2.7 million and still get the quality and creativity displayed in the majority of these messes?
The biggest disappointment in this year’s ad-wars was the creative team over at Anheuser-Busch. We leaked the details on their commercials a week before they aired, and they sounded pretty funny. Of course, if you viewed them during the game, you know otherwise. Buds’ entries were bland and hokey with played-out stereotypes galore (not to mention starring Carlos Mencia in one entry).
Still, a few commercials cut through the suck, putting the others to shame. (more…)
Tom Brady must feel pretty damn lucky. He has a hot, sexy girlfriend, and he’s about to win the Super Bowl – plus he has Inez Gomez Mont trying to get a different kind of ring on his finger.
Anheuser-Busch has a penchant for running absurd ads during the Super Bowl, and this year they’re trotting out seven commercials – six for Bud Light, one for Budweiser.
WTOP has posted the breakdowns for five of the Anheuser-Busch TV spots; read about the suds (and ever-so-slight spoilers) after the jump.(more…)
