With the conference finals starting up this week, I thought this would be a good time to revisit the longest current postseason droughts and streaks in the NBA. When getting your basketball team together, it helps to give them a name that is memorable, marketable and – above all – imposing. Names like the Chicago Bulls, the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Dallas Mavericks are all names that strike fear into the opposition as well making a helluva lot more sense than – oh, we don’t know – Utah Jazz! With the first round of the 2011 NBA playoffs well under way, it’s time to honor – or dishonor – the teams with names that make fans everywhere cringe and their managers cry. Hit the jump to see COED’s list of 8 NBA teams that could use a name change!

It’s NBA playoff time and what better way to get into the action than by throwing down some wagers on the teams you think can take down the title. Will LeBron’s ”Decision” pay off? Will the old guard Celtics prove they are still the class of the East? Is Derrick Rose poised to take his team all the way to the Finals? Are Kobe and the Lakers ready to get to the finals for an amazing fourth straight year? Do the Spurs have anything left in the tank? Will Dallas finally make Mark Cuban’s dreams come true? It should be an interesting ride. Check Casino Steve’s playoff predictions after the jump!

After the Pistons walked off the floor in Miami following a seemingly symbolic overtime loss in the season finale, they will now have plenty of time to reflect upon ‘the good old days’ before engaging in a likely first round trouncing at the hands of the dominant Cleveland Cavaliers.
