On Guitar Hero 3, my absolute favorite song to rock out to is Muse’s face-melting number, “Knights of Cydonia.” The song just rocks. But this guy has taken it one step further, and put together this awesomely ridiculous acapella rendition, with all of the parts, that is nothing short of amazing.
Holy f**king sh*tstorm do we have a Twitter list for you! First we had celebrity hotties, then your favorite porn stars – and now you’re favorite bands! Below is the most comprehensive list of musicians, DJs and bands who use Twitter on the Internet. With a list this ridiculously extensive there’s going to be a lot of bands you have never heard mixed in with a lot of bands you know like the back of your hand. In fact, there’s so many Twitter accounts here, you’ll probably need to take a break before you get to the end. And if you do get to the end, give yourself a pat on the back – you deserve it. Enjoy! Cold War Kids probably could have gotten famous on their catchy and clever name alone. Luckily for us all, there has always been a bit more substance to this band than just their name. The indie/blues/soul/rock band from California started in 2004 .
Touring with bands like Muse and The White Stripes has, of course, helped them along the way, but they’ve been pretty driven, so it seems, on their own. With a new album out today, “Loyalty to Loyalty“, (listen to it streaming for free at Spiner.com, here) it goes without saying that a lot of people are excited. Luckily, they should be excited. Their single, “Something is Not Right With Me” has got a driving beat, passionate vocals, and a very unique instrumentation-including a blues-pounding piano. (more…)
Music is a funny industry. Like most other art, you’re praised if you’re even remotely aware of the underground and expected to, invariably, recognize the acts of the current mainstream. Myspace has managed to simultaneously make it easier and more difficult to keep up. Sure, there are thousands of new bands on Myspace that you would have never heard of before had it not been for the website–and it can all be very crowding to your musical mind–but they’re also all just a click away now. So get your little fingers ready for some intense clicking action. These Myspace links are probably gonna blow you away. Or…um…I hope at least one of them does.
ONE DAY AS A LION
Were you ever into Rage Against The Machine? How about The Mars Volta? Well, if you said yes to either one of those questions, you should hear the new project between Mr. Political Activism himself; Zach de la Rocha and the previous Mars Volta drummer; Jon Theodore. It’s like they were bored on some Cali beach one day, sipping Pacificos, when they looked at each other and said, “Shit, you know, lets just undo all of the wrong that Audioslave has done.”
Listen to tracks from all the bands after the jump! (more…)
To get right to the point: Bill Murray was in Sweden, wasted out of his mind, driving a golf cart around a main street in Stockholm.
He faces DUI charges. From riding a golf cart. Wasted. In Sweden.
If being a Ghostbuster, star of Caddyshack, Groundhog Day and Wes Anderson’s male muse wasn’t enough to solidify his status as the Coolest Motherf***er on Planet Earth Bill Murray had to step it up a notch and get caught piss-drunk joyriding around in a golf cart in a foriegn country.
Last night’s Muse & Cold War Kids concert at MSG brought ‘rock’ back to the rock show.
In recent years I’ve been bored by “rock” concerts that were half-assed and lacked energy. Not last night! Muse left everyone in the arena saying, “wow WTF just happened! I’m deaf, I have sea legs because the arena was literally shaking, my eyes are blinded from the Kiss-esque visual effects and I’m completely happy that I spent $40 bucks on that ticket.”
Cold War Kids, the opening act, have a sound that’s soulful and chill, plus any band that busts out a Sax solo is cool in my book. CWK will benefit greatly from this stint with Muse and I’m looking forward to seeing them again in NYC.
After the jump check out the pictures and a sweet bootleg vid of “Plug in Baby.”(more…)
