Two years ago Tampa Bay Rays owner Stuart Sternberg was looking for a gimmick similar to the Los Angeles Angels’ rally monkey to pump up his fans. After watching clips of his favorite TV show Saturday Night Live, Sternberg chose Bruce Dickinson (Yes, the Bruce Dickinson) and The Cowbell.

The Cowbell has caught on with the fans and now when an opposing batter has two strikes Bruce appears on the center field monitor asking fans to bring the noise with ”more cowbell.”

I know what you’re saying… I’ve already seen this video 100 times! But when was the last time you watched it? Probably over a year ago. Anyway I just watched it for the first time in over a year and I almost fell off my chair laughing. I forgot how over the top every part of the skit is from “I’m Bruce Dickinson… yes, the Bruce Dickinson” or “explore the studio space… I mean really…. explore the space.”
