Wednesday, some lucky Queens, New York resident won a staggering $133 million in the Mega Millions state lottery. And since I live in Queens, I was pretty pissed off it wasn’t me. Then I made myself feel better by remembering that most people who win the lottery have their lives ruined by the money. But that got me thinking, what exactly are you supposed to do, if you miraculously win, to keep it from ruining you life? (Surprisingly, “hookers and coke” is not the right answer.)

After a little research, I’ve come up with a few quick tips for how to conduct yourself after becoming richer than your wildest dreams. (more…)

The Truth Behind the McDonald’s Coffee Lawsuit

economy-rpa-mcspresso

Remember a while back, when that lady sued McDonald’s for millions of dollars because her coffee was too hot? Well, it turns out that many of the details of that case were left out of the reporting. Things like the fact that her coffee really was too hot; so hot, it was capable of “instantaneous destruction of the skin.” And did you know that the woman was 79-years-old at the time, and suffered third-degree over 6-percent of her body? Leaving the majority of her blood ties with nary a nickel Helmsley left her dog, Trouble, with $12 million dollars in her passing. That’s right – a furry little pooch by the name of “Troubleâ€? has more money than you will ever see in your lifetime. Kibbles n’ Bits indeed.

I love animals; I just don’t give them millions of dollars to sustain a posh lifestyle that’s completely out-of-touch with reality. (more…)
