Prior to all the Twitpics, webcams, and leaked sex videos, Hollywood was filled with beautiful young starlets. Young women like Bettie Page, Marilyn Monroe, Jane Russell, and Jayne Mansfield were featured all over town on billboards, newspapers, magazines, etc. They sure set the stage for today’s hotties, but should mainly be appreciated because they were super fine. The unfortunate death of Steve Jobs revealed some interesting information that a lot of people might not have known, like the fact that he was adopted. While a national-level official survey hasn’t been done on adoption since 1992, an AFCARS report shows that over 52,000 children were adopted in 2010 alone. The same study also shows that 60% of Americans know someone who has either adopted or been adopted themselves. Shalom! Passover began April 18th at sunset. The 7-day celebration commemorates the liberation of ancient Israelites from slavery in Egypt. Israelites marked their doors so death would pass over them. Today’s Miss COED, Marilyn Monroe, was Playboy’s first ever Playmate, though back in December 1953 when the first issue was published, it was known as the “Sweetheart of the Month“. The traditional definition of “playmate” is one who is “a companion at play”. Mr. Hefner‘s version of a companion at play is an attractive female model who is featured in a pictorial that includes nude photos, a centerfold poster, a short bio, and a “Playmate Data Sheet” displaying birthdate, measurements, turn-ons, and turn-offs. This comprehensive feature appears in the centerfold/gatefold of Playboy. But, what makes a Playmate “popular”? Is it her bust, her brains, or her bold personality? Find out after the jump!

Marilyn was a model, singer, and actress who was named “Sweetheart of the Month” in the first issue of Playboy magazine, which debuted in December 1953. She graced the cover of that issue, which featured her wearing a dress with a neckline cut almost to her navel when she acted as Grand Marshall at the Miss America Parade in September 1952, and while a nude photograph of Monroe, taken in 1949, appeared inside the magazine.
