Apple’s Smallest Computer Yet – The Mactini [Video]

If you’ve been waiting to get an Apple laptop, but didn’t want to throw down any serious cash, I introduce to you the Mactini. Sure, you might not get all the features of a full-sized laptop, but you’ll get used to it.

Netflix Makes Mac Media Player

For those Netflix fans out there, today it starts getting better.

Netflix’s mail-based video rental program has expanded to a VOD capacity over the last year, but with limited success. If you don’t like 70’s B-movies and ALF Season 2, you will not like the Netflix online video offering. Especially when it only works with Internet Explorer! Amazingly, the savior of this conundrum – is Microsoft.

5 Summer Video Game Time Wasters on The Cheap

video games

Summer’s here and that means it’s time to neglect that reading list and playing some goddamn video games. Unfortunately, your job painting houses at ‘College Kids F**k Your House Up,’ has neglected to return any income (“Dude, I totally have the cash but I keep forgetting”), so as usual, your broke.

No problem. Here’s five classic games that you should be able to find in the used/bargain bin section that’ll give you all the excuse you need to ignore other, less important things in your life. (more…)

Guitar Rising: A Game For Real Guitarists

This is for all those crotchety musicians that hate on Guitar Hero players ’cause, like, they should all learn real instruments and stuff. Truth be told, Guitar Rising looks well executed, though I’m wondering what songs will be licensed due to Guitar Hero’s stranglehold on the music game genre.

Make Your PC Run Like a Mac in Five Steps

Pc vs. Mac

Seeing all those super-cool kids on campus with their 17-inch MacBook Pros really gets on your nerves, right? Who do they think they are, using superior technology while you run Adware every half-hour on the Dell your mom bought you for college?

All hope is not lost, PC patron: in a few easy steps you – yes, you! – can make your PC run like a Mac.

CNet recently published an article titled “Mock OS X: Five ways to make your PC more like a Mac” – and it goes in much farther depth than merely slapping an Apple sticker on your PC. Using free downloads (and in some cases, paid upgrades) you can prettify your PC to act more Mac-like with the use of a camouflaged taskbar, Widget application layers and Apple-emulating skins.

In no time you’ll be able to act as smug as any Mac-loving, eco-friendly San-Franciscan!

If any of this nonsense makes sense to you are either a Mac owner/fanboy or a die-hard Mac hater who knows thy enemy all too well (or you’re computer literate and deserve a pat on the back).

XO Laptops: Give 1 Get 1

XO Laptop

Wait! Before you exit this article because there’s a lack of T&A, read on – it’s for a good cause you selfish prick.

Talk about no child left behind: the creators of XO Laptops, budget laptops for children, are rolling out a campaign on November 12 – “Give 1 Get 1″ – focused on helping 3rd world countries become up-to-date on global technology.

American and Canadian consumers will have the chance to purchase an XO Laptop for $399 with a second laptop being sent out to child in a 3rd world country in need of one. The exported XO is tax-deductible and a remarkable deal all-around, considering.

I wholeheartedly applaud the reasoning and value of these XO Laptops. At first look, they look like cheapo Mac knockoffs, and they are…in their own charming way. Sure, I know that Macs are sleek and stylish while high-end PCs are stacked with power – but keep in mind that XO Laptops are for kids. The last thing spoiled, wise-ass 9-year-olds need is a loaded laptop; they just need a slab of colorful plastic for basic typing and surfing. (more…)

Apple to Release iCar…I’m SUPER CEREAL

iCar

The latest news based on nothing but pure speculation comes from Capital, a German financial magazine.

For the German-impaired it goes something like this: upon hearing that Apple’s Jack-of-all-trades Steve Jobs and Volkswagen Chairman Martin Winterhorn had a tech rendevous in California earlier this week Capital pondered for a moment. After pondering for exactly one moment they thought, “Hey – what do cars and iPods have in common? Cars…iPods…carPods…podCars…wait! iCars!

Whether this rumor has any truth behind it – or if the iCar’s steering wheel will be a click-wheel – has yet to be confirmed. (more…)
