When guys live together during their college years (and for about a decade or so after), life involves some surprises you might not otherwise have to deal with, like drunken shamings, strange puddles, stranger smells, filth everywhere. And, last but not least, surprise spin kicks to the giant pilates ball you own for no apparent reason. Good times, friends. Good times….

We all know this guy – he’s the all-around, quintessential douchebag. Maybe he doesn’t pop his collar or rock a blowout, but he does act like a dickhead to pretty much everyone – and everything – around him. But sometimes that thing is a horse. And it doesn’t take a genius to figure out what happens when you f**k with a horse.

They say that people who are good at martial arts will still lose in a street fight because streetfighters don’t follow the same rules of fighting as someone skilled in martial arts. So I thought, Well, then you should probably just be a streetfighter! But after seeing this awesome flying knockout kick to the neck, I’m not so sure that theory is correct.

This day and age, money doesn’t come easily; times are tough, and everybody’s got to fight for what they need. But this autoworker makes his the punching-and-kicking kind of fight when his boss tells him to pack up is stuff and go. After delivering a serious beat-down to his boss, the guy who got fired begins to talk to reporters of the sad reality of… people having bosses. Those assholes! They have power over us! It’s bullsh!t. Seriously… So, I propose we start an official “Kick Your Boss’s Ass Day.” They get to tell you what to do, and you get to kick his/her ass once a year. Makes things a little bit more fair, don’t you think?

Any plan occurring in a cafeteria that involves a “flying jump tackle” is practically destined to fail. Bring a glass-front vending machine into the picture, and it’s all over.

Another season of Spike TV’s the Ultimate Fighter has passed, and whether or not you like this show (7 seasons in and it has lost some luster), you must admit, these free ‘Finale’ cards on Spike are great. And they are especially great when the UFC’s acknowledges (finally) that we don’t want to see the rejects from the show beat out boring decisions. We want to the see winners, maybe one grudge match, and then some real fights with real implications. On June 21^st that is exactly what we got.

Most people’s first encounter with the ultra hip, uber talented band, The Ting Tings can be attributed to Steve Jobs and his brilliant iPod commercials. Their song, Shut Up and Let Me Go, was catchy, fun and piqued everyone’s interest…in more than an MP3 player. Fortunately, that song wasn’t the only trick up The Ting Tings’ sleeve.Their newest album, We Started Nothing, is further proof of this duo’s serious talent. Unable to get those songs out of our heads, COED just had to get the story behind the band. So, we did. The good news: Katie White is just as down to earth and cool as she is talented. And, though we didn’t get to chat with Jules, we are pretty sure the same goes for him.

COED: We Started Nothing is chock full of textured beats, irresistible melodies and witty lyrics- where do the songs come from?
The Ting Tings: We didn’t intend to form in a band so I think it came from a very honest place, because when we wrote these songs we didn’t think anyone would ever hear them. We just wrote them to play for our friends at parties. We were both feeling quite frustrated at the time and very sort of, I don’t know, like, invisible. We had been in a band that hadn’t worked out, we had a bit of a horrible time with it; I think it came from a real frustrated point of view, but they weren’t negative songs; they were just songs to make us feel better.

COED: Could you describe your song writing process?
TT: It’s completely different for every song. Both myself and Jules write everything together. Sometimes it will be that I will come up with something on the guitar and then we’ll come up with an idea on top of that. Or Jules might come up with something on the guitar or drums, or we’ll play keyboards or we’ll just have this little percussive sound. We just turn to sing like guy vocals and then an idea will come out of it. (more…)
