November 3rd is National Sandwich Day, which celebrates the birthday of John Montagu, the fourth Earl of Sandwich. Dude wanted to eat his meal with one hand during a 24-hour gambling event, so he instructed his servants to serve him his lunchmeat between two slices of bread. Few foods have done as much culturally as the sandwich has, so we’re featuring some of the most outrageous and unique ones. I always assumed the internet masses would rather eat a bucket of KFC with Ron “Tater Salad” White than sip an 18 year-old scotch with Charles Bukowski, but this is ridiculous. As displayed in the screengrabs above and below, 9 of the 20 most Googled terms on Valentine’s Night 2011 revolved around remarkably unromantic American chain restaurants. Sure, not everyone can have a free Taco Party like the winners of Conan O’Brien’s VD Explosion, but if you really want your date to stay open for business, you might want to pony up a couple extra greenbacks for that fancy place down the street.
