When it comes to college cheerleaders, we here at COED fancy ourselves as experts on the matter. But the truth is, without the insane archives of sexy cheerleader photo awesomeness from Sports Illustrated, our cheerleader posts would be hard pressed to make 2nd string B-Team. Thankfully for us… and you, SI profiles a Cheerleader of the Week each week during college football season and to date

Nearly 8,000 people voted and Whitney McMillan of Old Dominion University has been named the 2008 Cheerleader Showdown Champion. Oregon’s Kelsi Metzler, who received 32% of the vote, jumped out to a quick lead but it was McMillan who secured the victory in the end with 42% of the fan vote.

Over the past eight months we’ve been featuring college cheerleaders from the SI On Campus Cheerleader of the Week Index in what has become known as our Cheerleader Showdown. To date eight cheerleaders have been named “Showdown” winners and today it is up to you to decide who is the overall winner in 2008.
