If you visited our homepage yesterday, you were greeted with a page announcing our opposition to the proposed SOPA and PIPA bills that are set to go before Congress. Hopefully, you emailed or called your reps – apparently, the protest is working: the sudden influx of emails crashed servers and a bunch of Senators have now said they opposed the legislat… Click to read more

You know how TIME always gives us their Person of the Year? Once in a while, they’ll include non-humans. On this day (December 26th) in 1982, they named their first non-human – the personal computer. At the time, you probably had a slew of Alpha Betas shouting “NERDS!”, but over the past few years, it’s consumed every last second of our lives. This year, TIME named the protestor as its Person of the Year, but we think it should’ve been the meme. There was a new one every other day! Though there were thousands to pore through, we’ve come up with about 40 of the best. Check ‘em out after the jump.

There are always gonna be a few people who care if you smoke pot. Maybe your parents. Or your boss. Definitely your dealer. And, unfortunately, people who have a problem with your pot smoking are also the types of people more likely to spy on you online. Want to make sure you’re protecting yourself against pot-related discrimination? Check out our paranoid pot smoker’s guide to covering your tracks online after the jump.

For a recent college graduate who lives with his parents (hey ladies), being a blogger is pretty much a God-send. I get invites to cool nerd parties, I look at pictures of tits all day, and I get to look at pictures of tits all day. Having said that, there is a real difficulty in finding new articles and angles on stories that haven’t already been blogged about. When I checked Sportsfeeder this morning, I noticed a trend of videos that were related to stools. Where was this heading? Apparently towards another lesson on internet and blogging etiquette.
At COED we try to pay homage the funniest sites on the web. With our Tumblrs of the Week column, we highlight the interspace’s best, most WTF Tumblrs. Wikipedia describes a Tumblr as ”a microblogging platform that allows users to post text, images, videos, links, quotes and audio to their tumblelog, a short-form blog. Users can follow other users, or choose to make their tumblelog private.” We describe them as websites that have a bunch of funny sh*t all with the same theme. This week’s Tumblrs feature faded felines, high tech anti-theft devices, and a tumblr about nothing, yada yada yada. Check them out after the jump.

Soon, an event will occur that common sense once dictated would never be possible: the internet might be getting even more porn. Last week, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (“ICANN”) – the non-profit corporation which regulates the internet’s domain names – voted to allow the creation of the “.xxx” domain name for adult entertainment sites. Now that .xxx is a reality, expect the number of porn sites to skyrocket. So, what does this mean for you? Find out after the jump!

Ah, social networking. What began as an online cave for basement-dwellers too afraid to form relationships with people IRL (that’s “in real life, ‘ for those less l33t-versed among you) has morphed into something that we can all appreciate/abuse. As technology has become more accessible, so too has the ins-and-outs of people’s personal lives, and the dating world has never been as straightforward and simple…or has it? Have the new, “easier” ways in which we communicate helped our relationships or have they made us all socially incompetent fish in the big, deep, dark sea? Read our list of pros and cons after the jump!

Symbolics.com was the first (and, since it is still registered, the oldest) registered .com domain of the Internet. The domain was purchased by XF.com in 2009. On this date, March 15th, in 1985, the symbolics.com domain was originally registered by a now defunct computer manufacturer, making it the first .com-domain in the world. That company’s graphics division produced software that was used to create 3D animations for Real Genius, Jetsons: The Movie, and the Orca from Free Willy – one of the greatest horror movies of our time… watch a recut trailer of Free Willy along with a full list of the 100 oldest registered domain names after the jump!

With Jesse Eisenberg hosting Saturday Night Live this past weekend and The Social Network looking to snag a few Oscars in a little under a month, we thought we’d take a look at 8 types of creepers Facebook’s created. If you’ve seen The Social Network, Jesse’s portrayal of Mark Zuckerberg might lead one to believe Facebook’s founder is a creeper himself. What do you think? Take a look at our rundown and let us know in the comments.

We dudes have always been fascinated with boobs much to the wonderment of women. They just don’t get what’s so special about them. Well, most don’t. Some friendly females throw us guys a bone once in a while and let us get up close and personal with what we like to call “Point of Boob” shots. For all the men who’ve pondered… Click to read more

One of the greatest features of the internet is its ability to bring people together; unfortunately, a select group of those people were better left in their lives of gentle solitude, sans modems. These internet weirdos (iWeirdos, if you will) were the type you avoided in high school, as though you had some sixth sense that they would grow up to collect child porn and/or use a Hotmail email account.

To say that the Internet has revolutionized our society would be the greatest understatement of all time. The Internet has monopolized our modern way of life and the “wired” generation has never known life without it. This list counts off (in no particular order) the 10 greatest things the Internet ever gave us.
