As we announced exclusively last week, Facebook Music is here!

The Facebook Music service will work in conjunction with the “Facebook Ad service,” treating music artists like any other brand.

Artists can build their brand page that includes tour dates, music pages, web links and album information. It also allows for user interacting through the wall, messaging and the ability for users to become a “fan.” 50 Cent’s Facebook page is a great example of how it all works: http://www.facebook.com/50cent.

Facebook Music is Coming!

As reported earlier this year, Facebook has been rumored to announce an online music service to compete with iTunes and MySpace in the near future.

This just in: the “Facebook Music” platform will serve as the social networking giants first step into the music space.

The new platform is set to be announced at ad:tech in New York City next week. Leading up to this announcement Facebook has been holding top-secret meetings with high-level representatives at each of the four major music labels.

What is Happening to Facebook?

Confused GirlRemember when Facebook was the simple, straightforward, selective version of MySpace? When it was “the facebookâ€?? All we had was a profile, a wall, poking, messaging, and groups. There was no photo feature, so we had to agonize over that one, single, perfect profile picture. No status updates, no events, no high school students.

As Facebook gradually became bigger, more complicated, more cluttered, and more creepy, we complained, but after the initial outcry, we always acquiesced and eventually embraced the new developments. Newsfeed threatened to tear us apart, but as always, we broke down and accepted it. And then came the greatest betrayal, when Facebook opened its once closely guarded gates and welcomed in anyone, anyone at all. (more…)
