In what may be the most brilliant product marketing strategy ever, Dr. Pepper is giving every American (minus Slash and Buckethead) a free Dr. Pepper today, to coinside with the unlikely release of Guns N’ Roses Chinese Democracy. Yes, the album has dropped and pigs are flying, but it’s not all kittens, unicorns and rainbows. In order to claim your free DP, you must register your email address with the corporate folks at The Dr. Pepper Snapple Group. So be sure to use a different email address unless you loves yourself some Dr. Pepper Snapple Spam.

After 14 years, Dr. Pepper is making good on its promise to give everyone a free bottle of soda with the long-awaited release of Guns ‘n Roses’ Chinese Democracy. And now we know how they’re going to do it – and no, it doesn’t involve invading a 7-11.
Instead, starting November 23rd – the same day Chinese Democracy hits stores – you can head over to Dr. Pepper’s website and enter in your information in order to receive a coupon for a free 20-oz bottle of peppery pop goodness.
Then, after four to six weeks, you’ll receive the coupon in the mail. (more…)

Today, Guns ‘N’ Roses finally released the first single off their long awaited new album “Chinese Democracy”. The song entitled “Chinese Democracy” is hard hitting with the attitude one comes to expect from Guns ‘N’ Roses, yet with a completely different sound.
As of this writing, I still have the initial thrill of hearing a studio version, so I will try to make this review as objective as possible. The main difference in sound is the absence of Slash’s distinct, deep, smooth yet buzzing guitar, which is replaced with the much rarer guitars of what sounds like Buckethead, but I’m not sure considering he quit the band years ago and (like most of Axl’s ex-compatriots) on bad terms.
Listen to the “Chinese Democracy” single after the jump! (more…)

Axl Rose knows when it comes to releasing a record these days, it’s all about timing. So what better way to grease the hype machine than to postpone, leak, further postpone, shelve then announce the (still tentative?) release of the new Guns N’ Roses Axl N’ Company album, Chinese Democracy?
Classic Rock reports that Chinese Democracy is finished and awaiting a proper release date. Since it’s been overhyped to death (and resurrected…and back again) whichever label handles the album is sure to release it at the most bankable time (early guesses include summer 2008, holiday season 2012 or posthumously, following Axl’s death in 2019). If the Farrelly brothers get their way, a Three Stooges movie will be nyuk-nyuking into theaters soon.
Reported to consist of short vignettes tied together as a comedic compilation (think Paris, Je T’aime with more flour and face-slapping) the film would star four unknowns as the leads.
Four leads? Does that mean Shemp will star amongst the slap-happy trio? I hope not. (more…)
