It can be difficult for a gamer to date a girl who has zero interest in video games. Seen from the outside, video games are a silly way of killing time that some people take way too seriously, the same way you might feel about scrapbooking, cats, or jogging. So, when she hits you with the inevitable “I don’t get it” it’s natural to try and persuade her by getting her to play with you. Here are some suggested titles to keep your significant other from rage-quitting your foray into the world of gaming. Check out our list after the jump.

With music-based video game franchises like Rock Band and Guitar Hero becoming more niche with their releases (Beatles, Aerosmith, Metallica, etc.) and titles like Michael Jackson: The Experience becoming more prevalent we thought we’d compile a list of other music acts that should make the leap to the digital domain, with some ideas about what kind of game they belong in. This fall, DJ Hero 2 will be released on all three major consoles featuring a wealth of game play improvements. Lady Gaga, Kanye West, Rihanna, and The Chemical Brothers are just a few of the big names on the tracklist. Better yet, a microphone will be included to allow players to sing or rap along, RockBand style. Activision is calling this release “the ultimate party in a box,” and they’re right.

Guitar Hero® Van Halen® features 25 of Van Halen’s greatest hits including “Jump”, “Panama” and three Eddie Van Halen’s epic guitar solos. Notoriously missing is the “Kick Out” feature where Eddie throws you out of the band regardless of how well you’re doing, how popular you are, or how long you’ve been jamming with him.
