This nonsense with Brett Favre has GOT to stop. Every morning, I wake up to Mike and Mike on ESPN2 HD (bitches!), and for the past five and a half years I’ve had to listen to them fawn over each and every move this sub-par dude makes. This guy’s pulling a Ross Perot/Michael Jordan times eighty, playing with the emotions of not only Packers fans but the entire GD NFL and, yes, maybe even the universe. Saturn even called, it’s lost like 8 rings from the stress.Favre’s latest maneuver–a text message to a Packers exec who happened to be on vacay–was national headline news for several days. DAYS! HEADLINE NEWS! LOUD NOISES!
First of all, when did Brett morph into a 15 year old girl on her period? Second, since when did text messaging get treated like legitimate news? This is f**king high school gossip! This would cause major waves if it was a sorority board meeting but cripes and crackers, it’s a damn NFL “legend” who’s traded quips with Warren Sapp and once had a mysterious orb-shaped egg thing protruding from his rib cage for an entire season. This is a guy who lost his father then went out and torched the Raiders. I couldn’t even brush my teeth after my dad passed…gas. (more…)

When a guy like Brett Favre single-handedly brings the Green Bay Packers back to the height of the Lombardi era he probably has a little bit of respect due to him. His love of the game has always interfered with his business sense though, forcing him to think about retirement on and off for years, something Joan Rivers should have done around 1988. The fiasco in Green Bay is faulted by both sides; Favre stringing along management for years about retirement, and management disrespecting Favre when he inquires about getting his old job back. Now #4 is left blowing in the wind, trying to negotiate with the team he once dictated the shots for, left with nothing to do but wait and warm his arm doing Prilosec OTC commercials. The true issue is a business deal, one that see’s an asset is depreciating and wants to move into a more long-term oriented strategy. The ‘gun slinger’ just isn’t in that strategy. (more…)

Brett Favre has ended the speculation. Sports Illustrated is reporting that Favre has decided to retire after having what could be considered a “career year,” in which he broke several NFL records.
FOX Sports first reported Tuesday that the Green Bay Packers quarterback informed the team in the last few days. ESPN.com said that according to Favre’s agent the quarterback told coach Mike McCarthy of his decision.
Don’t be surprised in you go to the bars tonight and see several men drowning their overwhelming sadness over pints of Old Milwaukee.

Brett Favre is as American as Apple Pie. That’s why hearing he won the 2007’s Sportsman of the Year Award brings a tear of joy to my eye.
For years Favre has been the epitome of an American hero. A hard-working southern boy who hasn’t missed a day of work since the mid-90’s – and at age 38, in the twilight of his career, is “having one of the finest seasons of his stellar career.”
Not only does Favre bring class to the field, but he brings it off the field as well.
While his QB peers Peyton Manning and Tom Brady commercially pimp themselves to the highest bidder (and hook up with foreign supermodels who refuse to get paid in American currency in one case), Brett Favre keeps a low profile. He films low-budget commercials for local mom and pop businesses and is married to New York Times Best Selling author, Deanna Favre. (more…)
