The first ever Governors Ball was this past Saturday and the COED crew got the opportunity to go. The weather held up and the acts didn’t disappoint. Girl Talk, Pretty Lights, Big Boi, Das Racist, Passion Pit and others kept the crowd pumped even after the beer supply vanished. There were hotties and hipsters galore. Check out all the musical melody and madness in our mega huge photo gallery below. And for the record, Ned wasn’t the guy in the Charlotte Hornets hat selling ecstasy. That was some other dude.

Leave your glass slippers at home this weekend because you’ll need your dancing shoes for this ball. Saturday June 18th is the inaugural Governors Ball, an awesome festival set up by Founders Entertainment. I’ve never been to the Ball before (no one has, it’s the first ever) but I know that it’s going to be massive. Check the ingredients and tell me if you feel any differently: Take New York City, add another island, non-stop music, two stages, a lineup that has something for everyone, and beer pong – which I will be winning quickly because I want to watch the shows. If you haven’t bought your ticket yet, let us show you why you should. Check out our full preview after the jump.

With music-based video game franchises like Rock Band and Guitar Hero becoming more niche with their releases (Beatles, Aerosmith, Metallica, etc.) and titles like Michael Jackson: The Experience becoming more prevalent we thought we’d compile a list of other music acts that should make the leap to the digital domain, with some ideas about what kind of game they belong in. Read who made the final cut after the jump!

As long as people continue to make music, other people will make year end lists chronicling it. Artist of the year? Song of the year? Album of the year? Depending on how much you care about these things, there are literally dozens of different places for you to find out who and what, in very esteemed professionals’ opinions, have taken these top honors (S… Click to read more

I was introduced to mash-up artist Girl Talk (Greg Gillis) at a roof top Beer-BQ in June. Now that I am attuned to the name, I’m hearing an increased number of people raving about his 2006 release Night Ripper.
Greg Gillis is a bit of an enigma to his casual followers. According to myth, Gillis was a bio-medical engineer by day, moonlighting by night jet se… Click to read more
