For those who watched the 83rd Annual Academy Awards Sunday night and were unimpressed, we’d like to take you back to the 61st and 62nd annual ceremonies thanks to the photography of Alan Light. Just about everybody enjoys taking a stroll down memory lane, and many times that jaunt can jog a fuzzy (and funny) sense of nostalgia. Back in ’89-’90, Natalie Portman was 7-8 years old, Kirk Douglas was 72-73 years old (I’ll let that sink in), Demi was still with Bruce, Tom Cruise wasn’t worshipping aliens, and River Phoenix was alive. The 61st edition was notable for not having a host while Rain Man swept most of the major categories. The 62nd ceremony saw Billy Crystal MC while Driving Miss Daisy picked up the most wins. Enjoy these rare red carpet and behind the scenes pics after the jump!

Saturday Night Live has been in a rut lately. One of their best cast members, Andy Samberg, is under-utilized, Seth Meyers sorely misses Amy Poehler on Weekend Update, Bobby Moynihan is a very poor man’s Chris Farley, Kristen Wiig plays the same character in every skit, and Fred Armisen is around strictly to impersonate Obama. They should really re-n… Click to read more

It can be any genre but every mindf**k movie has one common denominator – it will make you scratch your head and think WTF just happened here? Here is our list of some of our favorite mindf**k movies

Denzel Washington stars in The Book of Eli as a lone hero who must fight his way across the wasteland of a post-30-year apocalyptic America to protect a sacred book that holds the key to saving the future of humanity. What that book contains, or holds, is a mystery that even the trailers and marketing won’t reveal, which is kinda refreshing given how most… Click to read more

American Gangster is a perfect gangster film. A rise and fall film, but it is done better than both Empire and Carlito’s Way put together. Where Empire fails, American Gangster prevails where historical accuracy is needed as well as a good background story. It’s violent and sometimes shocking, but being an avid gangster/crime fan i know that c… Click to read more
