South Carolina’s ‘Cocks Are The Healthiest, Says Trojan

sc-Cocks

It’s official, students at the University of South Carolina (and their Gamecocks) rank #1 in the nation in sexual health, according to Trojan condom’s 2009 Sexual Health Report Card.

The annual study analyzed 141 schools in the major NCAA conferences, grading them on a wide array of factors, including health center hours of operation, condom availability, HIV testing costs and the availability of anonymous anonymous advice. Scores are tallied similar to grade point average, with 4.0 being the best, and 0.0 the worst.

Ivy league schools ranked the best, with Columbia, Brown and Cornell all landing in the top 10. The Big East, on the other hand, is a literal cesspool of venereal disease, coming in dead last in the study. So, if you’re planning on going to school on the East Coast, make sure you bring your Trojans…

People Still Care About College Sex Mags

wesleyanAs long as college kids remain edgy, there will be college sex magazines. And as long as there are a few olds with no sense of mockery, they will be scandalized by them. Still!

We note that Wesleyan, the most annoying liberal arts school in the US, has launched a new sex magazine called…wait for it…Unlocked. Uh, unless this is like Wesleyan’s 267th different sex mag, may we just say about time, kids? Despite the fact that almost nothing in all of collegedom could be more tritely predictable than a sex magazine at Wesleyan (pictured: a photo shoot), this news was enough to warrant credulous coverage in the Hartford Courant.

And The Most Promiscuous College Degree Is…

standardsThe survey of more than 850 students by Oxford University student newspaper. Cherwell also revealed that students who do not have sex more than once a month are most likely to get a first in their degree.

But students who claimed to have a more active sex life are more likely to attain a 2:1 or 2:2 in their degree.

Historians were found to claim to be more sexually active than any other undergraduate, closely followed by students studying politics, philosophy, economics and English literature.

Survey Finds ‘Friends with Benefits’ Common In College

Can two people have sex and still remain “just friends?” A recent study found that 60 percent of college students have been in a “friends with benefits” relationship, but that the possibility for romantic feelings — and a lack of communication — can complicate such an arrangement.

Two-thirds of participants said they had been in a “friends with benefits” relationship, and 36 percent said they currently were in one. The main advantage of such a relationship was “no commitment” (reported by 59.7 percent of participants), which was followed closely by “have sex” (55.6 percent).

More than half of those who had sex with a friend said they had engaged in all forms of sex; 22.7 percent said they had intercourse only, while 8 percent said they did everything but have intercourse.

Unrealistic On-Campus Condom Ban

bn254049Frustrated that her college does not distribute birth control, Stonehill College senior Katie Freitas decided she would do it herself.

After collecting hundreds of free condoms from two family-planning agencies, she and about 20 classmates placed boxes of the contraceptives in student dormitories across the Easton campus last month. But when administrators at the Catholic school learned of the effort, they quickly intervened and collected the condoms, citing the college’s ban against distributing birth control on campus.

Fly To College On The Cheap

Students Can Now Fly To College On The Cheap

Higher airfares have raised the cost of higher education, from trips home for college students at Thanksgiving to study-abroad semesters. But two little-known companies that negotiate big discounts with airlines can save hundreds of dollars for students and their ticket-buying parents.

Even though airlines have piled on fees and eliminated most special discounts like senior-citizen fares and half-price tickets for young children, one vestige of airline goodwill remains. Several air carriers still offer special deals for students — and teachers as well. [WSJ]

Graduation Rates Amongst College Football, Basketball Athletes Up

Graduation rates for college athletes improved one percentage point to 79% over the past year, according to the NCAA’s Graduation Success Rates (GSR) released Tuesday.

That’s the highest rate since the organization began keeping GSR statistics seven years ago. Current statistics measured the graduation rates of freshmen who entered college in 2001. [Freep]

The Gentleman’s Guide To Getting Laid In College

Okay boys: school is in session. Welcome to college, where you can be anyone, and do anyone. That’s right – it’s time for all those crazy hi-jinks that years of Hollywood frat comedies have prepared you for: having sex.

Contrary to popular belief, most college sex is regrettable and/or decent at best. That is, of course, unless you take active measure to improve over time. [Guide Spot]
