After the Pistons walked off the floor in Miami following a seemingly symbolic overtime loss in the season finale, they will now have plenty of time to reflect upon ‘the good old days’ before engaging in a likely first round trouncing at the hands of the dominant Cleveland Cavaliers.
The Pistons have been the class of the East this decade, having reached the Eastern Conference Finals in each of the past six seasons along with a championship in the summer of 2004, but are now wrapping up their first losing season since 2000-01. On the flip side, the Cavs were one of the league’s doormats until some magical ping pong balls brought LeBron James to his hometown, and they are now atop the conference at the end of the regular season for the first time in franchise history.
Look no further than the point guard position to figure out why Detroit is passing the baton to Cleveland as the new Beast of the East.
All fingers will (rightfully) point to the trade that sent Chauncey Billups to the Denver Nuggets for Allen Iverson that has led to Detroit’s demise, but perhaps the bigger story is the ascension of the Cavs with the addition of Mo Williams. Williams has helped catapult the Cavs into super status as they look to advance back to the Finals for the first time since 2006-07, when they defeated the heavily favored Pistons in the Conference Finals.
While the 2007 Conference Finals showing was a coming out party for LeBron and the Cavs, this rematch is surely to be the final nail in the coffin of the current Pistons team as we know it, and perhaps the first step in the path of Cleveland’s first-ever franchise championship.

Saturday marks the 8th annual Texas Cavello Cup Roller Derby Championship and that means tons of super hot, tattooed, badass chicks brawling it out to become the queens of the rollergirl world. From the Cherry Bombs to the Rhinestone Cowgirls, these hardcore roller derby girls aren’t just hot, they could kick your ass with their eyes closed.
Founded in 2001 by Austin, Texas natives Anya Jack, April Herman, Heather Burdick and Nancy Lynn, the TXRD Lonestar Rollergirls is the original revival roller derby league in the US and they’ve gone from just a few chicks to a national army of sexy skaters, bashing each other to the floor, with other leagues popping up all over the country. And while not all of the girls pictured here are from the TXRD circuit, they’re with them in heart and soul. So be careful – with names like Polly Urethane and Evilynn Carnit, these tough little lasses could clean your clock and make you like it.

If there’s one Ohio State student out there that hates Terrelle Pryor, it’s definitely Todd Boeckman. Boeckman was the starting quarterback that led the Buckeyes back to the BCS National Championship Game last season and planned on returning to Columbus with his sights set on a return trip to the title game and more importantly, a first round selection in the upcoming NFL Draft.
Many believed the talented Boeckman could provide Ohio State with another stellar year behind center, and that his Draft stock would rise and force teams on the professional level to give him a serious look early on.
As a junior, he took over for Troy Smith and didn’t skip a beat. He threw for nearly 2400 yards and 25 touchdowns while leading the young Bucks to a Big Ten title, an 11-1 regular season record, and a return trip to the title game. He probably could have been drafted in the mid to later rounds, but decided to pass on leaving early after his first year as a starter knowing that most of his team would be back, and that they’d have a very reasonable shot at putting up big numbers and capturing the title that would propel him into the early rounds of the 2009 NFL Draft. Sure if the sexiness of a team’s cheerleaders guaranteed championships then the UCLA basketball team wouldn’t have been knocked off in the Final 4 and there’s a good chance they could defeat a bipartisan McCain-Obama ticket to take the White House this November – in other words… UCLA has the sexiest cheerleading squad in all of sports.
With that said Kansas and Memphis will square off tonight in the NCAA Basketball Championship Game so lets take a look at how their “spirit squads” match up.

When it comes to martial-arts, womanizing, full-splits and sweet dance moves, not many can go toe-to-toe with Jean Claude Van Damme, “The Muscles from Brussels.”
Born in Belgium, JCVD spent the earlier years of his life lifting weights and kicking ass, earning a black belt in karate before most kids get their first boner.
After much ass-kicking he took up ballet, nailed it, then resumed to more ass-kicking, albeit more elegantly. By 19 JCVD was fightin’ dudes all over Europe, winning Full-Contact Championship titles and tallying up a professional record of 13-1.
Then came the martial-arts/action movies, international stardom, scandals, parodies, budget films and televised boners.
Check out JCVD fun facts, video clips and a “questionable” photo gallery after the jump.

With colorful flags a-waving, there isn’t a more fruitful time than now to start thinking “Gay” for the 2008 Olympics.
Tyson Gay has been a middle-to-top-class sprinter in the 100m and 200m dash for the last few years – in 2005 he was the “4″ in the U.S. 200m 1-2-3-4 sweep – but the recent spring in his step has earned him Gold medals and World Records.
Gay, a 25-year-old American, got the Gold in both the 100m (9.85 seconds) and 200m (19.76 seconds) at the World Championships in Osaka, Japan – the first athlete to do so since Justin Gatlin in 2005.
His 19.76 in the 200m is edged out ever-so-slightly by the “world’s fastest man” himself, Michael Johnson, in 1996 (19.32).
Olympic hopeful? You bet your sweet ass.
Watch Gay win the 200m after the jump.
