The Costacos Brothers shot and produced “fantasy” sports posters that gave pro athletes a larger-than-life look and appeal. Since they didn’t have a license from any of the leagues, they were unable to produce game action shots. Instead, they made personality posters that turned the players into comic book heroes and Hollywood action stars. To celebrate their new exhibit “For the Kids” at Salon 94 Freemans, we’ve gathered some of their best work along with other kitschy sports posters from the ’80s & ’90s and beyond. Bo knows baseball. Bo knows football. Bo has always known a lot, as evidenced by this famous commercial. There’s never a wrong time to remember the greatness that is Bo, and wonder why the man responsible for the blast that rocked the ’89 All-Star Game is still not in the Hall of Fame, baseball or football…or even this Tecmo Bowl Throwback. What’s up with that? Not even Bo knows. Maybe Denver Dream’s Skyler can provide some answers.
