Band names have always been oddballs: the Smashing Pumpkins, the Goo Goo Dolls, Bush. It’s not like we expected this to change — for Korn to suddenly spell their name with a “C” and start promoting the second tier of the food pyramid. I almost think that having a good band name is more important than having a good band (but that’s why I’m not a musician). Time has proven that the weird names prevail, and we’ve got proof. Here’s a list of some of the weirdest, most out there band names we’ve come across.

Getting laid is, hands down, the best thing in the world. The only way you can do better than getting your rocks off is having an awesome soundtrack to accompany it. A great band helps to set the tone for your boning and gives you an auditory cue for when to pick up the pace or slacken off. Check out our list of 10 bands and artists to crank up the next time you hook up after the hump… we mean, jump.

The music scene can be a rough place for new, up-and-coming bands trying to get some exposure in a world that’s already over-saturated with other artists vying for the same goal. With a lack of outlets to do so, many bands lose the ambition to keep pushing on and call the quits on their musical journey. Wicked Audio – an industry leader in headphone manufacturing and design – has heard the pleas of the despondent and have created a revolutionary new platform on Facebook that allows bands to get their moment in the spotlight – WCKD Radio. Take a listen after the jump!

Musicians are like today’s Greek Gods. They’re rich, good looking, crazy, and can get laid whenever and wherever they want. For us mere mortals though, being in a band can sometimes be a really bad idea. Read more after the jump!

It’s that time of year again, when we look back on the year and recount our favorite memories. Our favorite movies, our favorite TV shows, and even our favorite music, and this year, we had a lot of great albums. But don’t worry, I won’t be going on and on about how great the new Kanye album is, nor will try and debate with you Pinkerton loving elitists how great the new Weezer albums were because it’d be like talking to a brick wall. What I will do, however, is tell you about the 30 best albums from this year you need to hear.

If you’re tired of listening to the same old crap — especially if you’re an FM radio junkie — now is the time to expand your horizons. The world is absolutely teeming with excellent artists who have a few things to say outside the realm of “get drunk/get high/get laid/bust a cap/smack a ho/check my rims.” Sometimes, they don’t say anything at all. “Music without lyrics?!” you ask, outraged. Yes, and it’s often better that way. Here are some artists that might not be at the top of the charts, but deserve a listen all the same:

Summer has officially arrived which means the major concert season is here! Rock on. If you’re willing to have your dignity sucked away by Ticketmaster’s “convenience charge”, there are a ton of tours, festivals and events that you can hit up all summer long. Music is an incredibly personal relationship, but that doesn’t mean we can’t judge you for your love. Here’s who you are, based on the tunes you love.

This is the most comprehensive list of musicians, DJs and bands who use Twitter on the Internet. With a list this ridiculously extensive there’s going to be a lot of bands you have never heard mixed in with a lot of bands you know like the back of your hand. In fact, there’s so many Twitter accounts here, you’ll probably need to take a break before you get to the end.

Here at COED, we like to collect the dirt. Mind you, the dirt doesn’t have to be a ‘bad’ thing, per se, it just has to be the information that you probably did not know lying beneath the scene of the music industry. The dirt we found for today’s beneath the scene, however, is pretty freakin’ filthy.
