Just when you thought this ‘Octomom’ thing couldn’t get any more f**ked up, this happens: Vivid Entertainment, one of the largest porn distributors in the world, has now offered Nadya Suleman, aka ‘Octomom’, $1 million to star in an adult movie.

The offer comes after Suleman gave birth to octuplets following in vitro fertilization. But with six other children already straining her bank account, the family now faces losing their home.

To add incentive to their deal, Vivid has also included one year of health insurance to Suleman and her family if she agrees to sign on as a Vivid contract girl. (more…)

In what would seem a moment of incredible shared stupidity, 17 girls at Gloucester High School in Massachusetts made a secret pact to get pregnant, and did. With teachers and administrators confused by the increase in knocked-up students–four times last year’s amount–the girls were doing whoever they could to get a bun in the oven. These are the second two pages of a German children’s book about sex, and where babies come from. But in America, we’ve managed to remove all the sex from “sex education.” So to see that in other countries, the parents tell their children the truth, and show them what actually happens–how babies are actually made–we in the US think it odd, at best.

At worst, we condemn them as irresponsible, godless and rude. And so our national sexual health–starting with the round-about explanations and books from which we learn, at a young age–has deteriorated to sickening climate of black or white ideas–purity or porn. (more…)

Sex is a wonderful thing. I don’t need to tell you that. Spontaneous sex is even better; more excitement, more danger and none of that boring planning that goes into the regular stuff (like getting a condom).

But after my experiences this past week, spontaneous (and maybe even super safe) sex is totally. Out. Of the question.

I spent my entire last weekend watching three children. Six-year-old twins and a potty-training three-year-old. And it only took me a total of 4 minutes to realize just how unready I am for child rearing.

Somewhere between the mini van and the screaming and the multiple trips to McDonalds (which somehow all ended in tears and ketchup all over my brand new jeans), I learned just how horrible the idea of getting pregnant could be. And for those of you out there who continue to have unprotected sex, STDs are not the thing to fear – this is:

1. No Showers: There is just no time. And if you manage to find 5 minutes in the day to leave the kids by themselves, you will most likely come out to find mass destruction, a child crying or both. (more…)

Last night three rescue workers were killed in Utah as they were searching for the six miners trapped from a cave in over 10 days ago. This most recent tragedy only adds to the laundry list of terrible events that have made the last week pretty rough.
