Last night, the BCS Selection Show revealed the bowl schedule lineup. The biggest surprise was #7 Boise State getting shafted, but there was no surprise when it came to the title game. LSU will play Alabama for the national championship in what we’re hoping won’t be a repeat of their low scoring snoozefest earlier in the year. Thanks to the only recently squashed NBA lockout, a lot of basketball heads have turned to the college level for their fix on hoops. Time and time again, you’ve probably heard people exclaiming that college ball is better than watching the pros. Perhaps now you’ll understand why. Last week, we followed our abysmal showing in Week 11 with a 3-7 record for our predictions. If we were fantasy football players we’d be color coded blue. Lots of close games in Week 12 with the upset special coming at the hands of Iowa State who took down #2 Oklahoma State. So, which match-ups should you tune into over the Thanksgiving break? Last week, we went 4-3. Not pretty. The Spartans couldn’t capitalize on their momentum, the Dawgs barely edged the Gators, Penn State outlasted Illinois in a shoot-out, and it took Stanford three overtimes to upend USC (a game in which we predicted would be a tight one… just like your mother, Trebek). Clemson got their tails handed to them and the Badgers lost on another last minute desperation toss. What a kick to the d*ck. Btw, we completely left out then #8 K-State vs. #9 Oklahoma and for good reason. Wildcats got smoked 58-17. So, which games should you watch this week? Other than maybe soccer hooligans across the pond, I don’t think you’ll find a more rabid fan base than football’s. While there are some real fervent and passionate peeps supporting the NFL, we think college football might be just a tad more spirited. As we mentioned in our post on the Texas Thong-horns, this past offseason has been marred by controversy and scandal, moreso than any other season. Even with the heated debate over student-ath-o-leets reaching a fevered pitch, we’re going out on a limb and guaranteeing those distractions will disappear once the pads start clashing. Last week, Oklahoma and South Carolina got spanked and Stanford embarrassed Arizona. The LSU / Alabama game topped them all. We look ahead to this week’s game featuring the Gamecocks vs. Florida, Miss State and Alabama, Ohio State vs. Penn State, A&M vs. Baylor, and K-State vs. Mizzou.

Of the 18 times Arkansas and Alabama have faced off, the Tide won 10. The last bout was hardly a contest with the Crimson Tide rolling over the Razorbacks 35-7. Things are different this year, though. This time both teams rock.

Fall is here and while the NFL gets most of the crap games out of the way early; they call it pre-season (watch at your risk), in college they do not do something neat like that. No, instead, most teams wait a few weeks before playing anyone of consequence. It’s like they have to wait for it to cool down some before they can actually play some real football! If you want to actually watch a competitive football game or two before the leaves start changing colors then read on.
