Gone are the days when men would rule the “tough guy” roles in film. More and more women have made their way into the leading roles where strength and tenacity are key. These women have fought everything from zombies to psychotic murderers, all while bringing class and hotness to the screen. These are the truly badass women of Hollywood and it’s time they get some recognition.

Lots of comedy this week with great stand up, a new comedy from Ricky Gervais, and an action movie where gamers are directly controlling prisoners in a battle with their lives in a simulated video game. Based on actual rentals, Paul Blart: Mall Cop topped the list of the most-rented movie of 2009, logging more than 4.5 million Redbox rentals, and proving definitively that the country is doomed. I bet if Reagan were here to save us Gran Torino would have been #1.
