Have you seen that terrifyingly sad and awkward hurt animal commercial that begs of you to be an animal’s ‘angel’ while playing Sarah McLachlan’s “Angel” in the background? It’s awful. But for all of you who are a fan of that commercial, you should know Sarah is releasing a Best-of album today called, “Closer“. Maybe some hurt children and hurt rain forest commercials can adopt one of her songs too now.
In other album release news, Oasis is releasing their highly anticipated “Dig Out Your Soul” album today. I know, some of you are probably thinking, “Oasis?! WTF? I thought they were…dead”. Well, where have you been? They’ve been all over TV and the internet the last few months promoting the release that, in fact, drops on this very day. Oasis, in my opinion, was a band and still is a band that has been married to radio.
While this could be looked upon sourly, I think it is…and always has been…a good thing in the case of Oasis. They’ve always managed to write catchy songs with words you couldn’t forget. Oasis have not changed. The new songs on this album will deliver to you exactly what you’re expecting from them and then some. After all, they’ve had about 56 years to work on this release.
Indie rockers, Deerhoof, also released an album today that is generating quite the buzz. Their “Offend Maggie” dropped at midnight. With driving rhythms, arty vocals, and a sound suited for the basement of any club that’s got an 80’s night, I predict this album will be a hit.
Other albums released today:
The Pretenders, “Break Up The Concrete”
Rise Against, “Appeal To Reason”
The Streets, “Everything is Borrowed”
Telsa, “Forever More”
Michelle Williams, “Unexpected”
