The 15 Biggest Internet Jackasses of All-Time

jackasses-lead

The Internet is literally filled with jackasses. Their misfortunes and apparent retardation are a large part of what keeps people coming back. So to narrow it down to only 15 might be a bit audacious. But that doesn’t mean we can’t try. Here are the 15 people we here at COED think, for one reason or another, deserve a spot in the history books under “Biggest Internet Jackasses of All-time.” Enjoy.

NOTE: We did not include anyone who makes their living being a jackass on the Internet. Only amateurs allowed. (more…)

megan-fox-boycott-lead1

You might be asking yourself right now, WTF is the Megan Fox Boycott Boycott? So here’s the lowdown: Basically, Asylum.com and some other dude Sites, many of whom are good friends of ours, decided that today, August 4th would be “A Day Without Megan Fox,” a day without any content involving the Transformer’s super-hottie. Today’s Time-Waster: Blazing Lazers

superlaserracers

If you’re strongly of the opinion that the world of video game racing is sorely lacking in the lasers department, then head over to the Blazing Lazers demo site for the aptly-titled Super Laser Racers.

Fusing top-down race action with the type of blast-and-move business that made Geometry Wars such a frenzied affair, the title keeps things perky with Survivor and Eliminator modes, plus online leagues and a track editor to boot.

A must for all speed demons with dreams of causing destruction with a plasma cannon or laser mine, you can cop the full game for less than ten bucks this Friday by clicking here.

Download Spin’s Prince Tribute, “Purplish Rain”, (Almost) Free!

spin-coverIn the July ‘09 issue, Spin magazine writer, Brian Raftery has put together an excellent oral history of Prince’s iconic 1984 movie and Top 40s soundtrack, Purple Rain, in honor of its 25th anniversary. With interviews from pretty much everybody with in-the-know insight (besides Prince, unfortunately, but whatever), the 12-page feature gives you a comprehensive behind-the-scenes look at one of the classic music experiences of the modern era.

To top off their Prince-centric edition, Spin produced an excellent Prince tribute album, Purplish Rain, featuring an eclectic variety of musicians, from Of Montreal to the Riverboat Gamblers, which they’re giving away for free on Spin.com. But “free” has one little catch: In order to access the album, readers must first answer a question, the answer to which can only be found by having a physical copy of the magazine* (it’s the last word on page 61).

This is actually a fairly clever ploy to get you to buy the magazine, offering readers a valuable, interactive experience between Spin’s print and online properties. That said, it’s still only a ploy, nothing close to  shutting down the Internet the massive monetary defibrillator needed to zap life back into the print industry. (more…)

Ninja Rabbit Kicks Ass [Gaming]

02

Adding the word ‘ninja’ before something is a guaranteed way to transform the mundane into the badass, and we’re pleased to see that the good folks over at Wolfire Games agree with us, being all set to launch the ninja-rabbit fighting game, Overgrowth. Also adding known-martial-arts-experts wolves, rats, cats and dogs to the bloody mix, they’ve just upped the first episode of an online comic to help stoke hype for the title – check it out here.

Tennis Star or Pornstar: The Audio Game

Tennis-LEad

With the French Open just a couple weeks past and Wimbledon coming up on June 22nd, there’s a whole lot’a tennis going on these days. And with that comes a lot of tennis talk. This year, the big topic is whether or not officials will begin penalizing female tennis players for grunting like wild beasts on the court at Wimbledon. Which got us thinking, could you tell the difference between a tennis grunt and porn grunt? The answer is: maybe. So we put together this little game to test your grunt guessing abilities. Just play the clip and pick between “Tennis Star” and “XXX Star”. Get the right answer and you’ll be rewarded with a pic of the vocal vixen. Good luck and happy guessing!

NOTE: Tennis sfx have been added to both choices to make the answer less obvious.

Facebook Circa 2004: WTF? [Screenshots]

facebook-2004

Nowadays, nearly everyone on the planet with access to a computer has a Facebook account. So when we dug up archives, from a mere five years ago, we couldn’t believe how much things had changed. These are screen shots of the Site when it was just the pet project of an ambitious Ivy Leaguer, accessible exclusively by fellow Harvard students. Enjoy!
