Join the Mutant War with X-Men Destiny [REVIEW]

Not too long ago COED received an invite to check out a preview of the new X-Men Destiny game. Being a huge comic book nerd, I jumped at the chance to go check out the game and the next direction X-Men video games were headed. Unlike previous X-Men games, you don’t play as the classic X-Men characters. I know, I know, that sounds like it is a horrible idea. Why would you want a game where you don’t get the chance to slice up bad guys with Wolverine or melt face with Cyclops? I’ll tell you why and a lot more in the review after the jump!

Best Banned Video Games

As video gamers, we have it pretty good here in the U.S. Just about anything flies in video games here – drugs, sex, violence, harsh language – we Americans get it all! Now, although we are exposed to all that good stuff, there are several other countries that are not as lucky as us. Check out our list of the best games that have been banned in various countries across the globe below!

The Evolution of the Video Game Controller

Since the collective world’s mind was blown with the release of the Atari 2600 in 1977, video game controllers have seen quite the evolution. There have been good controllers, bad controllers, and some f*cking terrible controllers. Whose brilliant idea was it to put 12+ buttons on one controller? Who is responsible for the controller that we know today? These questions and more are answered in our anthology of video game controllers after the jump!

The 10 Best and Worst N64 Games Of All-Time

On September 29th, 1996, one of the greatest video game systems of all time made its debut. Yes, believe it or not, it’s been 15 years since Nintendo 64 hit the market. Seems like just yesterday that entire days were lost playing GoldenEye with friends. Even to this day, you still see it played in dorms and frat houses across the country, which really shows its impact on 90s kids. Like who the f*ck still plays the original PlayStation? Nobody. To celebrate this historic day we’ve put together this list of best and worst N64 games of all-time. Check it out in our slideshow after the jump.

Wouldn’t it be great to get paid to play video games all day? New “Dead Island” Official Announcement Trailer Does Slow-Mo Rewind [VIDEO GAME]

If you are anything like me then you absolutely love merking zombies. There is no better feeling than putting a shotty right up to a zombie’s domepiece and saying Sayonara. Well you can do exactly that in Techland’s new first person, zombie shooter, “Dead Island”. The game is set in the Palms Resort, in fictional Banoi, located off the coast of Papua New Guinea. A young girl and her family are on vacation when a vicious, zombie outbreak occurs. After watching the trailer, if you don’t want to avenge this little girl and her family then something is seriously wrong with you! Be ready on Sept. 6th for the release. Check out the Memento / Tarantino-esque carnage after the jump!

I Would Honestly Love It If Zombies Took Over the World [VIDEO]

I’m 6’3″, 200 pounds and overly confident that I can kick any living person’s ass, let alone someone who’s been dead to the world and smells like rotting garbage. Yes, I’ve practiced on homeless people. And COD. Both of which qualify me as an expert in zombie killing. When Rezurrection comes out, I’m honestly going to sit in front of my TV with no less than five blunts – which is the same approach I’d take if the Z Apocalypse comes. Check out the trailer after the jump.

Saints Row The Third Trims The Fat, Looks Lean, Mean, More Obscene [TRAILERS, SCREENSHOTS]

The Grand Theft Auto series of games are works of art, with high quality story, writing, design and acting. The Saints Row games are but shallow, shameless imitators. But Saints Row also lets you spray people with sh!t from a giant hose. So we love it. The first Saints Row was a blast, part two was even better, and Saints Row: The Third is coming soon, with preview information recently released. So, what can we except from the murderous Saints gang this time around? Check out our full preview along with HD trailers and ridiculously over the top screenshots after the jump.

Bring The Arcade Home With The iCade Controller For iPad [TECH]

Remember when game consoles took a second place seat to going to the arcades? I won’t say that I miss losing the quarters, but there’s a certain thrill to standing in front of a screen and gripping a joystick with everything on the line. One that can’t be matched by tapping a touch-screen, no how. That’s why I was so excited to try out the new iCade, an arcade ‘controller’ for iPads. Read our review after the jump!

Bart Scott CAN’T WAIT To Sue Tim Tebow [VIDEO]

So, by now, you’ve heard the NFL Lockout is over. We would say thank the Lord, but Tim Tebow’s already done that about a bajillion times so we’re good. We received an email from this agency pointing us to a video they created with some players to promote Madden ’12. In the video, Tim Tebow exclaims in his best Bart Scott voice, “Can’t wait!” Little does Tebowner know Scott trademarked that ‘ish.  Looks like the quarterback will be coughing up greenbacks to the Jets linebacker. That’ll teach Timmy to stop quoting people (Jesus is getting pissed, dude). See the video evidence after the jump.

7 Video Games For Your Non-gamer Girlfriend

It can be difficult for a gamer to date a girl who has zero interest in video games. Seen from the outside, video games are a silly way of killing time that some people take way too seriously, the same way you might feel about scrapbooking, cats, or jogging. So, when she hits you with the inevitable “I don’t get it” it’s natural to try and persuade her by getting her to play with you. Here are some suggested titles to keep your significant other from rage-quitting your foray into the world of gaming. Check out our list after the jump.
