This self proclaimed “Girl Next Door” has been giving her neighbors heart attacks ever since she first splashed on to the scene and doesn’t plan on quitting any time soon. Matt and Kim Look Into the “Daylight”

Matt & Kim are two kids out of Brooklyn, N.Y. taking their sound across the globe. Started by vocalist/ key boardist Matt Johnson and drummer Kim Schifino after meeting while attending the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn.The duo recorded their latest album “Grand,” entirely in the Vermont home Matt grew up in. Matt & Kim played at the Siren Music Festival, a free music concert held in Brooklyn, on Coney Island, and at Chicago’s Lollapalooza in 2007, and have appeared on MTV2 as program hosts. Gaining a huge local following, it wasn’t long before the duo took their act over seas booking shows all over Europe.

Building a buzz for themselves rather quickly Matt and Kim’s song was featured in promo’s, for Talk Soup‘s first host to move ups, new NBC sitcom “Community.” The break out hit “Daylight” was also heard on the series’ second episode. Soon after the two musicians were off on their way down the yellow brick and stealing the show at the MtvU Woodies awards and winning one of their own in the process. Not only did they also perform “Daylight” on Jimmy Kimmel, but the song was also featured on NBA LIVE 10, and Need for Speed: Nitro. A remixed version of the single, w/ lyrics from De La Soul was also featured on Fifa10. But my favorite is the Ninjasonik remix

The band has been influenced by a multitude of styles and it shows in their music. Everything from Electronic to Hip-Hop is represented in some form or another on their latest release “Grand.” Matt and Kim’s live shows go off. These guys go so nuts on stage you almost forget their’s only a pair of them. And Kim’s cheesy grin has become as synonymous with the band as their eclectic sound. Be sure to keep an eye ear out for Matt and Kim’s new pop, and look forward to their continued success.

Katie is a 25 year old skeleton racer who has competed since 2002, which I’m guessing was straight out of high school. Skeleton is an event where athletes ride head first down an icy track experiencing forces up to 5 G’s. After finishing 6th in the 2006 Olympic games, Katie received a medical waiver to compete this year due to a snow mobile accident that left her knee injured. Oh yeah… and she knows how to chug.
