Nikki Beach Gets “Juicy” During Annual 17 Hour Beach Party
March 20, 2010 by John Taddeo
One of the highlights of the Winter Music Conference held annually in Miami is Nikki Beach’s incredible Juicy Beach Party!
The seventeen hour marathon (Yes you read that right, 17 hours of Non-Stop Partying) sells out every year, and welcomes upwards of 7,000 reveling and scantily clad “Househeads.” This years Extravaganza begins on Wednesday March 25th at High Noon, and goes until 5:00 AM . . .the question is, can you? Check it out here! It’s insane!
No room can hold a bash of such epic proportions, so the party rocks the sand, shore and “Groove Temple” – Nikki Beach’s main building which is the epicenter of all things house in South Beach. When your address is One Ocean Drive, there’s really not much more you can say except, “Game Over”.
For 2010 the Juicy Team has assembled a veritable pantheon of world-class turntable gods – probably their hottest line up ever in the five year history of the event. Check this out (you better sit down girls – Weak Knees Warning!) -Robbie Rivera, George Acosta, Stonebridge, Joachim Garraud, Antoine Clamaran, Funkagenda, Oscar G., Alex Gaudino, Wally Lopez, Thomas Gold, Bart B More, Arno Cost & Normal Doray, Riva Starr, Koen Groeneveld, Dero, Inpetto, Dave Spoon, Richard Vission, Scotty Boy, Willie Morales, Mixin’ Marc, Tony Azardon, Lizzie Curious, DMS12, Edgar V.
Advanced tickets are 45 bucks! No wonder it sells out every year! It’ll cost you $30-$100 to get into any decent club just to see a single highline act! Here you’re getting 17 hours of “A” listers from around the globe – a bargain if it were inside any four walls – but we’re talking Nikki Beach! You’ll have to cross the planet, and summer in Ibiza to experience anything like this! If you’ll be in Miami on the 25th I recommend that you grab your advance tickets now. If not . . .well why not? Get your ass to Miami B*tch.
But if you can’t be there listen live to the 17-hour Juicy Beach Marathon Party, broadcast on Sirius XM Radio’s dance music channel, Area (Channel 38 on Sirius). Btw – if you haven’t heard, Robbie also hosts a weekly mix show on Area. For more info check out his website here.

Hot Women and House Music at Sea
January 11, 2010 by John Taddeo
Is the Miami Winter Music Conference too expensive in the current economy? Well your friends at Coed Magazine are here to let you in on a little known, house music secret that’s been happening twice a year, for the last half a decade. Compared to WMC it will get you some of the glam, most of the partying, and all of the excitement for less than 10% of the cost of a trip to WMC – It’s The Groove Cruise.
The house music party Cruise sets sail out of Miami in January and out of San Diego in September – sure, not the most desirable months in either local, but that’s probably how the promoters keep the cost down because for as little as $450 a person you get a major cruise line (this January it’s Norwegian Star of the Sea), all meals and snacks, and five major parties including two shore parties, and the sexy final night theme party – (This year’s theme is Naughty Nautical. All you’re left to pay for on the ship is your alcohol. . .and your mistakes.
On Board you’ll experience Norwegian’s “Freestyle Cruising”. Eat where, when and with whomever you want! Eat at a different restaurant every night of your cruise (there are six specialty restaurants and dining rooms). You can even dress how you want. NCL claims that, “You’re free to do whatever.” – Yeah, OK we’ll see about that.
The Miami headliner this year is Mr. Satisfaction himself Benni Bennassi, but the cruise also features superstars Steve Smooth, Sydney Blu and Sirius radio’s own Cato K. You could drop $300 in a few hours seeing stars like that at London’s Ministry of Sound, Mansion (Miami & NYC),Pacha or Nikki Beach. So in terms of value for your party dollar the promoter – Travel Business Whet Travel – is onto something.
But you better move if you want to groove because the dates are approaching fast!! Friday January 29th – Monday February 1st.
Plus here’s an added bonus! To save $50 use the Promo Code: Voodoo Tiki.

Movies This Week: December 25, 2009
December 23, 2009 by John Taddeo

This weeks pick at the movies – Sherlock Holmes. No stranger to “Buddy Films”, 48 Hours, and Lethal Weapon Quadrilogy’s Joel Silver Executive Produces, and teams with “hot & cold” action director Guy Ritchie (Lock, Stock and 2 Smoking Barrels, and Snatch – Hot. Revolver, and RocknRolla – not so much). The trailer looks great, and we’re so anxious to see Robert Downey back in the Iron Man armor that this might be just the flick to tide us over until February’s hugely anticipated Iron Man 2 release. Jude Law co-stars as Watson. Apparently, Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker were unavailable.

Also at the movies this week:
The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus, Heath Ledgers last film languished in uncertainty until stars Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell and Jude Law stepped in and the film was completed with all four actors sharing the Ledger role. Reviews are mixed, but after Ledgers Performance in The Dark Knight, and the unusual breaking of the Ledger role between four actors, we have to admit a cat like curiosity that may find us searching out this still quite limited release.

Alec Baldwin and Meryl Streep star in the romcom, It’s Complicated (see the trailer here), in which Streep, the Ex of ten years, winds up back in the sack with Baldwin Prime behind the back of Delicious Dish Lake Bell. It’s certainly no Glen Glary, Glen Ross, and can’t possibly be anywhere near as funny as Pete Scwetty’s Christmas Balls, but if you’ve lost the coin flip with the lady, and you’re on your way to It’s Complicated, consider yourself to have gotten off easy, because she could have picked . . .

The Musical Nine from the Weinstein Company in which fictional director Guido Contini juggles relationships with his wife, his mistress and his muse. Musical? Sorry, but for me any musical without Greased Lightning and/or midgets is a night light. Maybe if one of the numbers featured a Shaggy tune, but I assure you, no such luck. My advice, Guido, tell her it wasn’t you. And Weinsteins, more Quentin Tarantino and Kevin Smith.

Peter Jackson’s The Lovely Bones chronicles the disturbing afterlife of a child that’s been raped, murdered and is now stuck in a purgatory limbo of sorts as she watches her parents lives fall apart, a killer run free, and the world go on without her. It’s very lighthearted and entertaining, Bring the kids! We’ve got fun for the whole family. (Note: to Peter Jackson, Monkeys, especially big ones, are a lot more fun than child rape and murder. Not telling you what to do. I respect your art, but hey think about it. I could be wrong but maybe not.)

Finally, and unmercifully, Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel screeches it’s way into theaters Wednesday December 23. It’s no The Lovely Bones, but it does have talking Chipmunks and a “laughing all the way to the bank” Jason Lee in the star making role as Rodent Band manager Dave Seville, which was originally offered to John Travolta. Do you know what a chipmunk calls a Quarter Pounder in Amsterdam? A Royal With Cheese (but it sounds a lot squeakier and high pitched when they say it).

What’s Red or White and Fights Fat?

Wine! And you should be drinking more of it says Dr. Richard Baxter, a top-rated, board-certified plastic surgeon, anti-aging expert and author of the award-winning new book Age Gets Better with Wine: New Science For a Healthier, Better & Longer Life.
Baxter shares the scientific reasons why moderate wine consumption should be an everyday ritual, “Compounds in red wine work at a cellular level to lessen the negative effects of high-fat meals, and help keep blood sugar levels in check. These are some of the reasons why wine drinkers are less likely to be overweight,” Baxter notes.
So listen to Dr Baxter and you’ll be skinny and drunk, both of which are good.
The studies on if tequila makes you rich and good looking, as well as the research on if pot gives you Harry Potters Magical Abilities are still in progress. Keep your fingers crossed.
