AXE College Football Bucket List Week 1: Oregon vs LSU [PHOTOS, VIDEO]
September 6, 2011 by Steve - Seton Hall

COED and Quinn the AXE mannequin are on a 6-week mission to cross items off our AXE College Football Bucket List. We kicked off the tour at the Cowboys Classic in Arlington, TX with Oregon taking on LSU. The showdown brought out ESPN’s College GameDay crew so we made sure to arrive very early in the morning to check out the tailgate scene. Later on, we watched the Tigers beat the favored Ducks in a high energy game that had the entire nation pumped. The bigger question, however, was: were we able to complete the bucket list? Find out below.

TASK: Appear On National TV✓
Going into week one, we assumed “Appearing On National TV” would be the most difficult of all Bucket List items, but as it turns out, Quinn standing about 6’5” and dead sexy is hard to miss on TV. It took a bit of strategic location planning but Quinn managed to get positioned behind Kirk Herbstreit’s shots. Every time they cut to Kirk, there was Quinn photobombing like a boss just over his shoulder.
COED readers took notice, too – uploading screen grabs to our Facebook Wall. Quinn turned out to be pretty popular on Twitter (#ForTheQuinn), @Jim_On_Film said Quinn was the “best thing in the crowd at GameDay” and @BlakeMarts even took a picture and uploaded it.

TASK: Get A “#ForTheQuinn” Sign On ESPN GameDay ✓
This one took some effort. We had to write out signs the night before and arrive at the GameDay set at the crack of dawn to even have a chance of making this work. Mission accomplished. Our Hash-tag sign was ALL OVER GameDay for two straight hours which helped whip Twitter activity of #ForTheQuinn into a frenzy. By the way, keep a lookout for that hashtag on Twitter over the next five weeks as we keep traveling with Quinn.

TASK: Get A Kiss From A Cheerleader✓
It’s a known fact that Quinn is very popular with the ladies, so when the LSU cheerleaders were hanging around the GameDay set and spotted Quinn, probably recognizing him from the TV commercials like a lot of other people that day, she decided to give Quinn a smooch. Lucky guy.

TASK: Do A Stunt With A Cheerleader
After the LSU cheerleader was done smooching Quinn, her photobombing counterpart offered to help knock this activity off the bucket list by lifting Quinn over his head to complete a classic cheerleading move… right into a tree branch.

TASK: Find A Team Tattoo ✓
This was the most challenging bucket list item for the day. We literally spent two hours asking every group of people we saw if they had a team tattoo. No luck until the 11th hour when we stumbled into a flock of Ducks who made the long trip from Oregon. Not only did we find one tattoo, but we found two! Nothing says dedication like getting the logo and Duck wings permanently branded on your body like these two girls did.

TASK: Teach Quinn How To Duckie✓
“Teach Me How To Duckie” is a parody of the California Swagg District‘s song made popular by COED favorite Kate Upton. We saw our fair share of “Teach Me How To Duckie” t-shirts around the stadium leading up to the game, and since Quinn is such a ladies man two cute students at Oregon had no problem teaching him how to do the dance.

TASK: Conduct The Band ✓
Quinn ran into the LSU Marching Band after the GameDay taping and they were happy to let him conduct a few tunes. The crew even let Quinn jump in and play a few songs too!

TASK: Get Two Fans To “Hug It Out”
This bucket list item was inspired by a well-known quote from TV super agent Ari Gold of Entourage. College football fans are incredibly passionate about their teams, and after hearing “Tiger Bait” yelled by intense LSU fans at unsuspecting Oregon fans, we thought getting two fans to hug it out would be unlikely. Good thing Quinn was man enough to convince this LSU superfan and an easygoing Oregon alumni to let down their guard for a moment and hug it out.

TASK: Eat Homemade Jambalaya ✓
Jambalaya is a staple of the bayou and tailgate favorite in Baton Rouge’s Death Valley. We scoured the tailgates at Cowboys Stadium until we found an awesome crew of Tiger students who made the road trip to Texas cooking up a batch of pre-game chicken and sausage Jambalaya. They were super excited to feed Quinn (for Quinn, the feeling was mutual). That Jambalaya was so incredibly good and unique that we decided it was worthy enough to be revisited for our next objective.

TASK: Find An LSU “Purple Person”
A relatively new tradition at LSU is a play on Always Sunny in Philadelphia’s “Green Man“. At each game, students will dress up in an LSU purple and “gold” version of the costume and score some air-time on the jumbotron. While we were eating Jambalaya, a crew of three LSU bros walked by and one was the King of all Purple People.
![]()
TASK: Pet The LSU Tiger
We spotted this massive Tiger from 2 blocks away and had a good time hanging out at its enthusiastic owner’s incredible tailgate setup. What was even more impressive was what the Tiger was guarding – a tailgaters’ dream setup featuring a pro grill, mobile bar and 3 flat screens with satellite TV to watch the game live.

NEXT WEEK: NOTRE DAME VS. MICHIGAN!
We’ll be in Ann Arbor, MI under the lights at the Big House for the Notre Dame vs Michigan match-up. Keep an eye out for us as we once again try to crash those GameDay experiences and attempt to cross off a few more items on our college football bucket list with Quinn the AXE Mannequin. Make sure you follow along on Twitter by using the hash-tag #ForTheQuinn.

A storm’s comin’. At least, if you’re on the East Coast it is. As Irene roars its way up the east coast there are potentially millions of people who will be affected over the weekend. New Jersey governor Chris Christie has already warned beachgoers to not make the trip to the shore and multiple shore-lined towns have issued mandatory evacuations. Many of you will be having Hurricane themed parties so we decided to create a Hurricane Irene playlist for you to enjoy. Check it out then submit any songs we forgot in the comments section below.

Nicole Scherzinger continues to blow us away. The new X-Factor judge (and former Miss COED of the Day / Daily Snapshot) gets super soaked in her new music video. This isn’t the first time she got wet, but that doesn’t mean it’s not on fire. We’re surprised there’s not more steam. If we had our way, she’d be permanently drenched. Check out the vivid video then peep her hottest pics below.

Vegas Hidden Gem: The Neon Museum
July 16, 2011 by Steve - Seton Hall

The Neon Sign Museum in Las Vegas is one of the often overlooked hidden gems located just off the strip. A perfect example of what our Astound Me adventure was all about. The goal of the museum is to preserve the history of Vegas and they do it by collecting and preserving neon signs. We braved the oppressive heat to take a look at a truly Astounding location. The colors of the signs really pop and allow for the Nokia Astound‘s 8 megapix camera to showcase their brilliance as you’ll see in the pictures. Although photography is frowned upon at the Neon Museum we managed to snap off a few winners.
COED Writers Take Astounding Pictures of Their Hometowns
July 16, 2011 by Steve - Seton Hall

At the beginning of the Astound Me adventure we handed off five Nokia Astounds to COED Magazine writers across the country and asked them to take pictures of astounding locations around their region. Harvard, Hawaii, DC, Minneapolis, San Francisco…we had the U.S. completely covered. The writers did a fantastic job and now it’s time to showcase their hard work. Many of these places are probably right in your backyard so grab some friends, read our road trip tips and get out there!

Hanging With Drama At The Fantasy Factory
July 15, 2011 by Steve - Seton Hall
MTV’s Fantasy Factory follows the antics of Rob Dyrdek and his cousin Drama at their pimped our warehouse in Los Angeles. It has been my favorite show on MTV for years and judging by the feedback we got on Facebook it seems you guys are pretty big fans too.
On July 13th Drama invited John and I to stop by the Fantasy Factory and we had a free for all with grown up toys within it. From riding bikes into the foam pit to ziplining, we got to do it all! Drama also shot a shoutout video to a couple lucky COED Facebook Fans and hooked us up with a Young and Reckless t-shirt to giveaway along with our Nokia Astound and $50 gas card. All in all this was probably the best stop of the trip for me.
And a funny side note. John rode a BMX bike into the foam pit (see the video below) and lost his sunglasses in it. As it turns out Beiber was at the Fantasy Factory with his Dad only an hour before we were there and lost his sunglasses in the pit too. Apparently he stops by there quite often to catch a break from the mob of fans and ride his purple roadster that is permanently docked at the factory. Imagine if we ran into him? The convo would have been pretty awkward when I told him where I worked.
