While cotton might be the very fabric of our lives, I’ll bet that you didn’t know why today is White Shirt Day. On February 11th in 1937, union workers at a General Motors plant symbolized that they were participating in a massive strike by wearing (you guessed it) white shirts. Since there were no women working at the plants at the time, it’s unknown where the use of water cannons became associated with the white shirts. One thing’s for sure, though, water + white shirts is a perfect union.

February 9th is Charlie Day’s birthday. The “Wild Card” has come a long way since his acting debut as “Mailroom Kid” in the 2000 TV movie, “Mary and Rhoda”. His turn in “Horrible Bosses” brought him to a new level of celebrity and landed him a guest host gig on SNL. Jimmy Kimmel tapes his show in the heart of Hollywood. Outside his theater on Hollywood Blvd there are a collection of characters who gather outside to take pictures with tourists. Some are dressed like movie characters, some are dressed like superheroes, but all of them make their money off tips so you can imagine the competition for this tip money can be fierce. On Thursday night Catwoman got into an argument with Captain Jack Sparrow, things escalated and it ended with Captain Jack getting pepper sprayed by Catwoman. The story got picked up by all the local news channels so Jimmy stepped in to get the characters side of the story. Hilarity ensued. Back in July, we showed you Terry Richardson’s pics from when he attended Kate Moss’ wedding. This past Friday, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell announced that ideally all 32 current NFL franchises are going to stay right where they are. That being said, there are still potential plans in the works to bring an NFL team to sunny Los Angeles…and another unnamed city. If the L.A. expansion happens, Goodell dropped a bomb saying that they wouldn’t stay at 33 teams, and would in fact add another franchise! Yep, you heard that right, 34 NFL teams! That is big news for NFL fans around the country (and continent?) as nobody knows what city would be chosen. The Super Bowl is so close I can almost taste it! Yeah the game is going to be awesome but I’m also very excited for the commercials. Why wait to see them on Sunday when you could enjoy the comedic genius of Jerry Seinfeld early. 5: Hit The Streets!

If you want to get a date, the logical place to go is a bar or club, but think different. The streets are filled with beautiful women, and lots of them are going to be single and lonely. A “day game” approach is a lot more romantic and they’ll be much more receptive if they are single leading up to V day. Just approach with a casual request for directions, or if you are feeling bold, approach with a compliment, “I saw you and just had to come and tell you…you are absolutely stunning…my name’s Richard”.

4: Hit The Bar/Club

Lonely single girls + alcohol = winning. One problem – lots of guys with the same idea! This means you need to stand out. Do this by being the sociable guy: talk to the bartender, talk to groups, and generally work the room. When you then come to those hot girls you had your eye on, it just seems like you are being sociable – their guards are down and you are in. Want to know if they are single? Just ask them what they are doing on Valentine’s Day. Tell them you were thinking of doing x,y,z, ask the single one if she thinks it sounds good, and when she says yes, say “cool what time should I pick you up? Around 8?”

3: Use Your Social Circle

You have friends (you do have friends right??), they are normal (still with me?), and they will know single girls. Try and get an introduction, drinks in a bar, something casual. Most relationships happen through social circles. Use yours. Alternatively, remember that most casual sex happens with strangers. Take your best buddy and his girlfriend and make them come to a club with you. Use them as your base and get them to help you get chicks. She can talk to girls for you, they can tell the girl what a nice guy you are while you are in the restroom. If nothing else you won’t have to be alone in the club.

2: Dive Into Your Little Black Book

The girl from two years ago that you never managed to get on a date? The girl whose number you got but then you went on vacation? If you talk to girls now and then, chances are you have a bunch of these numbers. Let’s do some bulk texting! Send out something like “Hey, long time…have you been kidnapped? Are you okay? I hope they are feeding you…I’ll rescue you and bring chocolate…white, milk, or dark?” It’s guaranteed to get a response in 90% of desperate lonely girls close to V day.

Valentine’s Day isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. It’s expensive, tough to get tables in restaurants, and girls expect too much. Just wait. Just a few days. An Insider’s Look At Sundance 2012 With AXE Hair [27 PHOTOS]

This past weekend I flew out to the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah to check out the AXE Hair Media Lounge and Groom Room. The idea behind the AXE Hair Lounge was simple, it would act as a styling station where celebrities would stop by to get groomed before hitting press interviews and premiere parties.

The weather on Friday and Sunday was incredible but on Saturday we had to battle some intense elements. It was Park City’s first real snowfall of the year (pretty unprecedented to go until mid-January without seeing snow) and the blizzard-like conditions dumped two feet on us making it difficult to even walk across the street let alone explore the town. But it did make for some incredible skiing conditions.

I hadn’t gotten a hair cut in a while and Joey, the official stylist for AXE Hair and the Groom Room was nice enough to give me a complete a hair makeover. He had me feeling like a million bucks, which is just rich enough to talk to all the celebrity babes who stopped by the AXE Hair Media Lounge and Groom Room while I was there. Over the three-day period I saw my fair share of celebrities including Victoria Justice, Kate Bosworth, Lake Bell, Jamie Chung, Rashida Jones, Christina Hendricks, and so many others.

In addition to getting the chance to rub elbows with (and trying to smooch) some of the prettiest chicks in all of Hollywood, I also got the opportunity to attend some pretty awesome parties including the Playboy Imaginative Filmmakers Spotlight, The Ainsworth screening of the Giants game, Goodnight Gansevoort and the party of the weekend, Deadmau5 at a super intimate venue called Park City Live.

All in all it was just about the best week ever and I’ve got AXE Hair to thank for allowing me to take an inside look at the most popular film festival in the country.
