Next time your girlfriend says you’re crude for telling your friends about one of your epic farts, explain to her that even the ancient Japanese thought that the art of passing gas was worth passing on. According to io9, a scroll written during the Edo period depicts the “He-Gassen” or “fart war” (seriously) in which foreigners are literally blown away by Japanese hostile hospitality. They even fart in bags just to capture the essence of their discontent for the Gaijin. Sufficed to say, these drawings stink.
