5 Funniest War Propaganda Films Ever Made

May 18, 2010     Posted in Entertainment, Funny Stuff, Movies, Video, WTF

Movies and war go together like Britney Spears and Cheetos. Like Jon Gosselin and douchebaggery. When there’s a war going on, chances are someone out there is making propaganda films for it. Here are clips of five of the funniest propaganda films ever made.

1. The Huns – This is British propaganda from World War I (1914-1918). Note the strong resemblance  between the “German monster” and King Kong.

2. You Can Beat the A-Bomb (1950) - Very educational. Just remember: if you’re near the epicenter of a nuclear blast, take off your clothes and lay down. Learn from little Buddy.

3. The Spirit of ’43 (1943) – Disney’s own Donald Duck helped the war effort. In this clip, he saves money to pay his taxes.

4. What Hitler Wants (1941) - Cartoon propaganda was popular in Russia, too. This World War II bit features an animated Hitler. Pay attention at 7:02 – it looks like he moonwalks across Europe.

5. He May Be a Communist (1950) - It’s like the “you might be a redneck” of the Cold War.
