The 13 Sweetest Nerf Toys of All-Time

December 14, 2009     Posted in Featured Left, Features, Gear, Lifestyle, Stuff

Over the years, Nerf has become the essential toy box staple for American children, big and small.  Thankfully, kids nowadays are more likely to open a foam ball or a dart gun on Christmas morning than a soap-on-a-rope. It is arguably the best toy company of all-time.  From the classic Nerfoop to the Nerf-N-Strike Rapid fire Raider CS-35, Nerf has changed the way we play with toys. To pay tribute to this awesome company here are the 13 Sweetest Nerf Toys of All Time.

13. Disk Shot

This was named one of the best toys of 2007 by Money Magazine. You can load foam disks into a remotely controlled launcher, press a button and shoot the disks skeet style with your dart gun, pretty badass if you ask me.

12. Dart Tag

While all other Nerf guns are geared towards random shoot ‘em up action, Nerf Dart Tag is Hasbro’s attempt to mimic paintball or laser tag action in the privacy of your own home…with foam darts. While the set comes with a set of protective goggles, you will undoubtedly lose or break them within a week resulting in a number of unfortunate eye injuries.

11. Nerf Bow and Arrow

The Nerf Bow and Arrow was the very first Nerf gun made back in 1991. Despite the fact that it was their first venture into the toy gun business, it shot three foam arrows up to 60 feet, one of the longest shooting Nerf products ever made.

10. PowerClip DX 1000

The PowerClip is Nerf’s best selling water gun, and for good reason. After just a few pumps, you can nail a target as far as 75 feet away. Pretty impressive considering Jay Cutler can’t nail a target 75 feet away.

9. Ballzooka

Nerf is best known for their foam bullets but they aren’t the only type of ammunition that Nerf uses. The Ballzooka, aside from having a name that makes us giggle like school kids, can unload 15 balls in just six seconds.

8. Nerf Football

These footballs were great for indoor games but after about a week of strong usage the paint would begin to peel off and god forbid you used the football in a pool, it would soak up all the water and turn into a 3-pound concussion delivery system.

7. N-Strike Recon CS-6 Dart Blaster

One of the most unique guns that Nerf produced, the Blaster was completely customizable and could be put together in five different ways. Best of all, it had a red-dot scope.

6. Nerf Vortex Football

While simple in its design, almost everyone has a Nerf Vortex football. If we studied this, we would undoubtedly find that more objects in the home have been broken by a Nerf football than any other item.

5. N-Strike Longshot CS-6

When it says Longshot, it means it. The N-Strike Longshot is a niche item that combines the awesomeness of shooting someone with a foam bullet with sniper action, scope and everything.

4. N-Strike Raider Rapid Fire CS 35 Blaster

The Raider Rapid Fire is one of my personal favorites. It is modeled after one of those old mobster guns and holds up to 35 darts. It also doesn’t require any batteries and instantly switches from single fire mode to slam fire mode.

3. N-Strike Unity Power System

What makes the Unity Power System awesome is that it is three guns in one, literally. You can switch between three different shooting modes on the system or you can take it apart and use it as three individual games.

2. N-Strike Vulcan EBF-25

The N-Strike Vulcan is arguably the sickest toy gun ever made. It is a fully automatic machine gun that can fire all of its 25 bullets in 10 seconds. Simply put, it is the coolest and most powerful Nerf gun ever, perfect for anyone hunting mice in their house this holiday season.

1. Nerf Hoop and Ball

If you or a neighbor friend didn’t have one a Nerf Hoop growing up then you haven’t fully lived. Nerf Hoop was great because you could hang it on your door and play around the world for hours on end.

loved the bow and arrow. my best friend is a little crazy and when we were kids he'd put pins from his mom's sewing supplies adding a tip to the arrow which could pierce drywall. kind of messed up for a 4 year old but i guess that explains him now.
