College Football 2009 Week 14 Championship Week Preview: Cheerleader Edition

Thanksgiving is a thing of the past and now COED has refocused its mind on the lovely cheerleaders of those top ten teams heading into Championship Week 2009.  With six unbeaten teams entering the final week of the season, plenty of BCS bids are up for grabs.  We have the Game of the Season with the top two teams in the nation squaring off in Atlanta, while the Longhorns look to get an invitation to the title game by avoiding a letdown loss to Nebraska.  Strap on your gear for the final week of the season as COED’s college football preview is coming at you for the final time this regular season.

florida-cheerbama

No. 1 Florida (12-0) vs. No. 2 Alabama (12-0)

This one is for all the marbles.  Saban’s Tide looks to put a damper on the final chapter of Tim Tebow’s career.  We knew all season long that the SEC was going to be decided by this game, and probably the national championship will end up in the arms of the winner.  Tebow hopes to keep his emo side in check as he takes the field for the final time as a Gator in the regular season.

Texas

No. 3 Texas (12-0) vs. No. 22 Nebraska (9-3)

The Big 12 Championship game seems like just a formality at this point.  Sure, the Huskers showed some promise earlier in the season, but Colt McCoy is on a mission.  After last season’s BCS title game snub that saw Oklahoma get a shot at the Gators over Texas despite the fact that the Longhorns defeated the Sooners head-to-head, this season’s Horns took care of business with authority.  They shattered their opponents by a combined score of 516-185 and look to dismantle Nebraska on their way to the title game this weekend.

No. 4 TCU (12-0) is done with the regular season – Mountain West Conference Champs

TCU will be wearing Nebraska Red this weekend as they hope and pray that the Huskers can knock Texas out of the title game and give the Frogs their much deserved placement in the BCS Championship.  But don’t hold your breath – that’s about as likely as Tiger Woods cheating on his wife…oh, snap…

cincinnati-cheerleader

No. 5 Cincinnati (11-0) at No. 15 Pittsburgh (9-2)

This was poised to be another classic battle between two top ten teams who both happened to reside in the Big East until West Virginia squeezed out a victory over Pitt last week.  Now, Pitt looks to bounce back and deliver a knockout punch to the face of the Bearcats, who are looking for their first ever perfect 12-0 regular season.

boise-state-cheerleader

No. 6 Boise State (12-0) vs. New Mexico State (3-9)

Boise State looks to wrap up another perfect season and a return trip to the Fiesta Bowl in Arizona.  All they have to do is stomp out the pathetic Aggies of New Mexico State and hope that the voters continue to show them love.

No. 7 Oregon (9-2) vs. No. 16 Oregon State (8-3)

Who would have thought that the Civil War of Oregon was going to decide the Pac-10 representative in the Rose Bowl. The winner of this classic pacific northwest brawl will be the ones afforded the opportunity to take on the mighty Buckeyes in the Rose Bowl on New Year’s Day.  Oregon last lined up in the Rose Bowl in 1994, while the Beavers haven’t took to Pasadena since 1964 – way before Citi was the official sponsor.

ohio-state

No. 8 Ohio State (10-2) is done with the regular season and is awaiting an opponent in the Rose Bowl

Ohio State is once again champion of the Big Ten and will be heading to the Rose Bowl to take on one of the Oregon teams.  Will they continue to disappoint in their BCS bowl appearances?  Or will this year be the year for Coach Tressel?

iowa

No. 9 Iowa (10-2) finished second in the Big Ten

Iowa had a strong season with 10 wins, but really suffered after quarterback Ricky Stanzi was lost for the end of the season.

georgia-tech-cheerleader

No. 10 Georgia Tech (10-2) vs. Clemson (8-4)

The ACC title game has lost some of its flair after both combatants lost to their SEC rivals last week.  This week, they square off in Tampa with the opportunity to end their conference title droughts and secure a BCS bowl game bid.

texas is going to dismantle nebraska, huh? yeah, they really dismantled 'em. it took a booth review adding time back onto the already expired game clock to allow texas to kick a field goal and escape with a 1 point win. and that's after nebraska sacked mccoy 9 times and had 18 tackles for loss. yup, quite a dismantling.
