College Football Week Eleven Preview: Cheerleader Edition

With fall in full swing and six teams still undefeated, we are heading into the last leg of the season.  This week features mighty battles in the Mountain West, Pac-10 and Big Ten – and yes, I included the MWC, which could surprise some people and find themselves in the national title game conversation (in the event of a miracle).  Get ready as COED covers this week’s top ten lineup.

No. 1 Florida (9-0) at South Carolina (6-4)

3:30 p.m. EST CBS (HD) / Online

Florida has been absolutely dominant this season, outscoring their opponents by a combined score of 315-91.  That is ridiculous.  Tebow and his crew will take on another tough road test when they head up to South Carolina for this week’s matchup.  South Carolina has struggled as of late, losers of three of their past four games, but a home game with nothing to lose could spell trouble for Tebow.  Okay, yes, I am kidding – the Gators will stomp.

No. 2 Alabama (9-0) at Mississippi State (4-5)

7:00 p.m. EST ESPN (HD)

The seesaw at the two-spot continues to alternate as the Tide have regained the second slot from the Texas Longhorns after a strong win over the Tigers of LSU last week.  Saban and his boys better be careful after Mississippi State put up a battle with Florida two weeks ago.

Texasbaylor-cheerleader

No. 3 Texas (9-0) at Baylor (4-5)

12:00 p.m. EST FSN (HD)

Texas continues to coast their way into the national title game and this week shouldn’t be any different.  Jordan Shipley is already over 1000 yards receiving on the season and Colt McCoy is knocking on the door of 2500 yards passing and 20 TDs.  Will he make it to 3000 this week?

tcu-lead-1utah-cheerleader

No. 4 TCU (9-0) vs. No. 16 Utah (8-1)

7:30 p.m. EST CBSC (HD)

When the season began, did anyone circle this game and really believe that it could have national title game implications?  Okay, aside from Utes and Horned Frogs nation-wide, the answer is no.  TCU has used a balanced attack to slaughter their opponents by an average of 26.2 points per game.  Can they do the same at home against Utah?

cincinnati-cheerleaderwest-virginia-cheerleader

No. 5 Cincinnati (9-0) vs. No. 25 West Virginia (7-2)

8:00 p.m. EST ESPN2 (HD)

The Bearcats  held off a dangerous UConn team last week for a 47-45 victory, but this week will have to tango with an even better West Virginia team with the speedy and scrappy Noel Devine, who has already topped the 1000 yard rushing mark on the season.  Can Cincy continue its march toward a BCS bowl game?

boise-state-cheerleaderidaho-cheerleader

No. 6 Boise State (9-0) at Idaho (7-3)

3:30 p.m. EST ESPNU (HD)

Boise State continues to roll, despite their less than impressive win over Louisiana Tech last week.  This week, they square off with a seven-win Idaho team.  Don’t let the 7-3 record fool you, Idaho has actually been outscored by its opponents this season 308-311, so expect Boise to put up gallons of points.

georgia-tech-cheerleaderduke-cheerleader

No. 7 Georgia Tech (9-1) at Duke (5-4)

12:00 p.m. EST ESPN2 (HD)

An overtime win last week over Wake kept GT atop the ACC standings, and this week they will likely destroy the Blue Devils as they have every year since 2003.  Demaryius Thomas is only 139 yards away from reaching the 1000-yard receiving mark for the first time in his collegiate career.

lsu-cheerleaderlouisiana-tech-cheer

No. 8 LSU (7-2) vs. Louisiana Tech (3-6)

7:00 p.m. EST ESPNU (HD)

LSU actually lost last week, yet moved up a slot in the BCS rankings.  LSU has had a strong season to date, with their only two losses coming at the hands of No. 1 Florida and No. 2 Alabama.  This week should be a breeze in the bayou before facing a semi-legitimate test in Mississippi the following weekend.

usc-songgirlstanford-cheer

No. 9 USC (7-2) vs. Stanford (6-3)

3:30 p.m. EST FSN (HD)

The fact that USC is ranked No. 9 and Oregon is ranked No. 13 is an absolute joke.  And Stanford is the team to thank for that.  While I realize that this is a preview section for the USC/Stanford game, Oregon is somehow ranked four spots below USC just two weeks after absolutely shattering them to pieces by 27 points.  Then, Stanford upsets Oregon in the classic trap game following a huge win, and now USC is once again the ultimate benefactor. Wow.  Who isn’t sick of USC?

iowaohio-state

No. 10 Iowa (9-1) at No. 11 Ohio State (8-2)

3:30 p.m. EST (ESPN / ABC ) (HD)

Now that Iowa left the door open with a shocking home loss to Northwestern, and Ohio State buried a listless Penn State team, this figures to be the unofficial Big Ten title game this weekend in the Shoe.  Expect a romp by the Buckeyes, as too many lucky wins by the Hawkeyes likely won’t stand up to the conference’s best team.
