When it ain’t broke, you don’t fix it. And when you’ve got noise-canceling headphones that take their job seriously, why bother updating them? So you don’t  – instead you drop another QuietComfort sibling onto the line and reduce even more noise across even more frequencies bothering your ears.  And you call it “QC15.”

Now sure every Bose commercial on TV features some nebulous business guy flying first class who doesn’t want the sounds of the engines getting in the way of his classical music (you know it ain’t Eminem). But getting back to Earth and streets filled with noise and congestion,  there’s something to say for embedding mikes outside as well as inside the earcup to analyze and clean out the external world so you can listen without added buzz. So build the cups out of material that helps block sound but also pushes a snug and comfy fit. And make the whole thing lightweight enough to be worn for hours without strain by juicing a single ‘AAA’ battery for 35 hours of power.

‘Course it’s all driven by audio tech using signal processing so the results are clear highs and the kind of balanced low notes and bass earbud users have pretty much have given up on (thank you proprietary audio drivers). And sure there’s a mobile kit option so your cell phone doesn’t lose out.  But the whole point is that you don’t have to put up with all that noise polluting your sound when the QC15 is on the job.
