The 5 Reasons Brock Lesnar Is The UFC’s ‘New Big Thing’
August 21, 2009 Posted in Pro

The title of “The Next Big Thing” has followed UFC Heavyweight Champ Brock Lesnar throughout his career as an amateur and professional wrestler, football player, and MMA fighter. While Lesnar became very successful in the short time he spent in the WWE, his UFC career has made him the “New Big Thing” as one of the most recognizable athletes in the world. And he’s only fought four fights in the UFC.
Why has Lesnar skyrocketed to success? Despite what you may think of him, he came into the UFC with the total package.
1. Already World Famous.
Despite having only spent a couple years in the WWE, Lesnar was a huge star. His 300-pound frame and arms the size of tree trunks catapulted him to a near freak show that everyone wanted to watch and when Lesnar left the WWE to pursue a football career, wrestling fans still wanted more.
2. Brute Strength.
Lesnar just comes off like the kind of guy who skips a visit to the gym to go bench press a Chevy. Regardless of where he has been, Lesnar has always been one of the strongest guys in the WWE, the NFL, and the UFC.
3. Suprising Talent
Most people do not give his talents the respect they deserve because they think of him as a professional wrestler. The truth is, Lesnar had an incredible, Olympic-caliber amateur wrestling career and is one of the best wrestlers the UFC has (and they have former Olympians!). Lesnar finished his amateur wrestling career as a four-time All-American, a two-time Big Ten Conference Champ, and a ridiculous 106-5 record.
4. Persona
Many say he’s a douchebag but his ego and his persona keeps people coming back. Lesnar is the type of guy who people will come to see fight, whether they love him and want to see him pulverize some guy’s head or hate him and want to see his opponent put him back in his place. Which brings us to our last point…
5. People want to see him fight.
UFC President Dana White gives the fans what they want and they want Brock Lesnar. Lesnar may not have B.J. Penn’s technical ability or Chuck Lidell’s knockout punches but he sure as hell makes fights interesting and has already defeated two-former World Champions, Frank Mir and Randy Couture.

"new big thing" of course cuz he's american and

I think you are half retarded & your opinion shall be taken with a grain of salt… "teknisun" are you serious???
It isn't that Lesnar is the best fighter in the UFC, it is that he is the most famous and recognizable fighter in the UFC and the guy that the most people want to see fight.
Similar to Brock's meteoric rise through the UFC, Floyd Mayweather's career has blossomed from effective publicity. Just like P.T. Barnum and Don King, Mayweather is born to promote. Tonight should be a knockout for all of sports entertainment both boxing and the WWE, see more at precioustimeny.com/blog/?p=3903.
he is the best ufc fighter
If there's one thing Brock Lesnar knows how to do, it's create hype and excitement, and that's what the UFC needs. And since the UFC is trying to expand into other countries, they need an American 'bad guy' for the other fans to root against (and envy a bit…)
